On the recent episode of The Steam Room, a call came in from prison, or at least that’s what Ernie Johnson thought. But that ended up being just a doubt that no one cleared up, because there was an important topic to be discussed: the cookout. On the last segment of the show, a call came in for Johnson.
The fan asked, “There are a lot of people on social media who put Ernie on the short list of white people who are, quote-unquote, ‘invited to the cookout.’ These lists usually include names like Eminem or Martha Stewart, and, of course, Ernie himself. I’m curious, Ernie, have you ever been invited to the cookout?”

Johnson was touched by the thought of having an open invitation for the cookout. His best friend and godfather Charles Barkley immediately responded with, “You always got one.” Then Barkley brought up the old notion about Johnson when people used to think he was Black. The 67-year-old said that it happens more frequently than one would think. But he has a solid answer for it every time this topic is brought up to him.
Johnson said, “I addressed that one night…somebody is asking the question, “Is Ernie Johnson Black or white?” and I said the answer is, yes.”
Sir Charles picked it up from there with another invitee to the cookout, Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem. He said that the hip-hop legend is on his bucket list of people he would like to meet. However, he has met some other hip-hop legends from Eminem’s camp such as Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre. But it is the GOAT from Detroit he is still yet to meet.

Then it was time for Barkley to dive into Martha Stewart’s “thirst traps”. Intrigued by the term coined by “young kids”, Barkley said that he is very well aware of Stewart’s thirst traps and admitted that he has seen them, without knowing the term for it. Telling on himself, Barkley went on to add a hilarious comment on the 82-year-old’s pictures.

Sir Charles said, “Martha Stewart has been taking these thirst trap pictures lately.” When he was asked by Johnson how he would describe the pictures and if he has seen them, he said, “I was thirsty.” One simple phone call from a fan made Barkley unveil some secrets of his life, something no one would’ve associated him with otherwise.
