Trinity Rodman has etched her name in soccer history by recently winning a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. While the 22-year-old continues to ascend, a shadow looms over her — the conspicuous absence of her father, the NBA legend Dennis Rodman. “My Dad doesn’t play a big role in my life at all,” she admitted in 2021. But a rift only seems to grow now.

Dennis Rodman married Michelle Moyer in 2003. A year later, Moyer would go on to file for divorce. Although both of them tried to reconcile their relationship for several years, their marriage was finally dissolved in 2012. At that time, the court had reportedly ordered Rodman to pay $860,000 in child and spousal support. However, after the NBA star’s attorney challenged the figure, both parties agreed to $500,000. There have been no reported developments on that and as Trinity reveals, he hasn’t much been a part of their lives, with her brother, D.J., showing little to no acknowledgment.

But now comes the latest blow. It has been observed that Trinity Rodman has unfollowed her father from her Instagram even though the latter still does.

Last year, the Washington Spirits player revealed, “Growing up, people always thought that me and my dad had a close relationship and we never did,” as per ESPN. Dennis was with the family for a short duration in Newport Beach, but even then, he was occupied with his NBA commitments.

There were, however, attempts at reconciliation of late, with Dennis surprising Trinity by making it to one of her playoff games in 2021. The Olympian was quite happy over the matter, going on to share an image of them hugging on social media. But that has been the most of it. Even as Trinity won the Olympic gold last month, it was only Moyer in the stands.

However, despite the complicated relationship, Trinity has had a neutral and rather respectful stance towards her father.

Trinity Rodman publicly shared she has nothing to say bad about her father

Trinity has acknowledged the difficulties and pain that her father’s actions have caused her. However, she has also emphasized the fact that her father’s life was also not easy and that he had to go through a lot of struggles in his childhood and also in his NBA career.

“I have nothing, honestly, bad to say about him. He goes through so much and through his career, he’s had a very hard time. It’s weird being a daughter saying that about a dad. You’d think it would be the opposite way,” said Trinity in an interview in 2023.

The 22-year-old also acknowledged him to be an amazing athlete and the fact that she gets her athletic genes from him. But she does want to etch her own name, and not just be known as Rodman’s daughter. The NBA star might just have missed watching her do that a month ago.
