After Failing Miserably in a Beer Chug Competition, Dwyane Wade to Face 41YO NBA Veteran Head-On for a Noble Cause

Dwyane Wade is easily one of the most recognizable faces in the NBA today. The Miami Heat legend has been a part of the NBA since 2003 and was drafted to the league after a stellar run in the NCAA tournament that year. Becoming one of the three players drafted into the NBA from his collegiate side Marquette. Wade was part of a historic Golden Eagles team that reached the NCAA tournament final four, etching his name in Marquette University history.

While recognized for his business portfolios and marriage to Gabrielle Union these days. Wade has a philanthropic side to him that not many know of. From serving as an ambassador for ‘St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’ to starting his own ‘The Wade’s World Foundation’. The former All-star is quite the benevolent individual. This quality of his was recently shared by one of his former teammates, as the two decided to reunite for a noble cause.

In a recent newsletter from Marquette University, it was announced that the alumni of the school Dwayne Wade and Travis Diener would be returning to their alma mater later this month. Now 41 Diener didn’t come close to having a career like Wade’s. But having spent 7 years in the league, was one of the more recognizable players of his time. 20 years later and the two teammates find themselves in a full circle moment as they return to Marquette for a noble cause.

The former teammates have banded together for a three-day event in their university. Looking to raise money for Youth Literacy Programs. This includes programs like Marquette’s ‘Tragil-Wade Johnson Summer Reading Program’ and other local literacy programs in Milwaukee.

Stretching from the 22nd to the 24th of July, the events are to be hosted by Wade and Diener, starting with a private basketball camp for elite girls. This will be followed by a Tee Off Party with fundraising games, dinner and drinks on the second day. While the final day of the event will be an 18-hole golf outing that includes food, beverages, carts and the opportunity to play alongside Wade and Diener.

D Wade and Travis Diener were both present courtsides earlier this year, as Marquette faced off against Providence college in Milwaukee. The duo was seen together after a long hiatus and prompted a drink off during the half-time interval. In a game that Marquette dominated, Wade’s chugging was definitely the most unappealing sight for the home crowd.

In an epic showdown Travis easily downed the alcoholic beverage only for ‘The Flash’ to struggle miserably. Not only did Wade struggle in chugging the beer but was unable to finish the drink as the audience poked fun at the NBA legend. In a homecoming special for the two the moment was surely a core memory.
