Dennis “The Menace” Rodman has had one of the ‘wildest’ NBA careers of all-time. Popular for his unique hairstyles and clothing off the court, Rodman was a rebounding phenom on the basketball court. His constant off-the-court struggles easily makes him one of the most famous “bad boys” of the league.

Dennis Rodman once unveiled the incident, which led to the breaking point in his marriage with his ex-wife.

The Chicago Bulls legend was married to Michelle Moyer, from 2003-2012. The couple already were parents of two kids before getting married in 2003. The millionaire NBA took care extremely well of Dennis Rodman’s eldest son Dennis “D.J” Rodman Jr. and younger daughter Trinity Rodman star.

However, the relationship between Michelle and Rodman came to a tragic end after Michelle’s life-threatening incident. The married couple were not on talking terms and would barely talk to each other despite living together in the same house.

This can be attributed to Rodman’s lifestyle. However, this time Rodman didn’t do a thing. Michelle was on a holiday with her friends in California where she was riding a 650 pound ‘Harley Davidson’ motorcycle, gifted to her by Rodman, along the winding mountain roads at ‘Big Bear’. She was a rookie motorcycle rider who suffered an almost fatal bike crash while driving down the mountains and had to be airlifted by a helicopter to the emergency room at Lima Linda University, Medical Center.

At the time, Rodman was in Las Vegas. He mentioned in his statements that after listening to how the crash happened; he thought that his ex-wife passed away. Rodman flew out to the hospital she was in, where he found out the painful injuries his ex-wife had received. Rodman mentioned in his report, “She had a broken leg, collarbone and ankle. She also had two cracked vertebrae; assorted bruises; and bumps on her face that looked like cherries.”.

The Chicago Bulls legend recalls his ex-wife’s interaction with the doctor who treated her. She repeatedly asked him, “Is it that serious?” to which he replied, “You’re lucky to be alive.”.

How Dennis Rodman saved his ex-wife’s life

Despite the strained relationship between the married couple, Dennis Rodman knew that Michelle was the mother to his children. He paid all of Michelle’s medical bills. She did not have a health insurance plan which led to Rodman paying around $100,000 in medical expenses. After a week of recovering in the hospital, Michelle came home in a wheelchair and neck brace. The wheelchair because she had to get an iron rod implanted in her left leg, which she broke during the motorcycle crash.

Rodman’s ex-wife then let Rodman know that she was upset with how he handled the whole situation. She was disappointed as she claimed that Dennis Rodman wasn’t “there” for her and her kids after the accident. She stated that her mother and friends helped her recover while she had “no idea what Rodman was doing. No idea”.

The Chicago Bulls legend clarified in his report that he was “there” for his children most of the time. He also added that since they were so young, the nanny would take care of them mostly. With the matter regarding Michelle, Dennis Rodman states that he tried to help his ex-wife to the best of his abilities. This is not the first time that Rodman was in an extreme situation in his relationships, which makes one wonder who is the toxic one in the relationship.
