As soon as Anthony Edwards made the comment about older NBA generations, it was sure to receive some response. Of course, many believe MJ to be one of the greatest players, but Anthony’s contentious take was contradicted by many, including Jamal Crawford and Eddie A. Johnson.

Crawford, who previously agreed that the 2x NBA All-Star has skills and a playing style similar to Jordan, still stands by his praise of Anthony. However, he made it clear that he isn’t fond of Edwards’ latest take on the past generation of NBA players.

“Love everything about him. But there was wayyyy more skilled players besides Jordan lol… a bigger conversation should be how it’s been such a “this or that” culture. Driven by media and social media. That now in this time period – people are questioning legends and pioneers of the game . It’s one of the wackest things out right now…” he wrote.

By this, Crawford might have been hinting at the recent debate raging on social media, where fans are divided into supporters of the old NBA and the new NBA. Some fans criticize modern NBA players, while others tear apart the old NBA calling them overrated, with some even stating they are done with the ’90s NBA.

MJ’s arch-rival Isiah Thomas also argued back calling it propaganda work and wrote “so be careful what you choose to believe,” on X. This was after an X user asked MJ’s former teammate to share his opinion on the matter. He isn’t the only one to react.

Eddie A. Johnson upset over Anthony Edwards’ lack of judgment

The retired NBA player Johnson was disappointed when Edwards openly admitted that he never really paid attention to or watched games from the previous generation, yet he still made such bold comments about the revered NBA players of the past.Well obviously you didn’t watch MJ play either, if you didn’t see others,Johnson’s X post read.

Karl Malone, David Robinson, Dominique Wilkins, Vin Baker, Joe Dumars, Tim Hardaway, Grant Hill, and Penny Hardaway are some of the phenomenal and entertaining players from the 90’s era. Anthony’s comment dismisses what they brought to the game as well as the league.

Anthony started by acknowledging his lack of knowledge about how tough the NBA was back in the day, but then claimed that the entire generation, except for Jordan, lacked skills.

“They say it was tougher back then than it is now, but I don’t think anybody had skill back then. [Michael Jordan] was the only one that really had skill,” Edwards said in a conversation with Lane Florsheim of the Wall Street Journal. He further claimed that now every player in the league has skills.

The Minnesota Timberwolves star stirred the pot during the Olympics as well by declaring himself the power star of the games. Now, he’s done it again. However, this time, many hold a different opinion.
