The Denver Nuggets are leading. After their 116-107 triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Nuggets now rest on the top of the Western Conference. Not surprisingly, Nikola Jokic had a big part in the victory. The Joker distributed 41 points 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Even though the Timberwolves didn’t win the game, their performance has been really good this season! Amidst criticism and the absence of key players due to injury, the team managed to lock in the second spot. NBA veteran Carmelo Anthony recently claimed that there is only one player from the team who could give tough competition to Joker.

In a recent episode of The Right Time by Bomani Jones, the hosts discussed Anthony Edwards‘ game. Furthermore, Jones mentioned how the Wolves’ biggest hope is Edwards. Melo explained, “That’s a lot of pressure for an Edwards I love him but that’s a lot of pressure to go out there and try to take on a juggernaut like the Denver Nuggets by yourself.”

Jones replied, “Yeah but I love the fact that he’s up for it,” The New York Knicks legend added that maybe Edwards is the only one who could beat the Joker and his team. He may be the one of the only ones that’s all that’s up for it to do by himself.”

Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has really elevated his game to keep up. While NBA veteran Jamal Crawford raised doubts on whether the Timberwolves’ would be able to beat LeBron James’ team, Edwards and his squad clinched a 127-117 win over the Lakers. Furthermore, both Jones and previously Crawford pressed on the absences of Karl Anthony Towns.

Anthony Edwards was astounded to watch Nikola Jokic’s game

Right, James was missing from the game, however, the Ant man’s ability in the absence of Towns also cannot be ignored. In the latest game against the Nuggets, Edwards led the scoring with 25 points.  Rudy Gobert managed a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds. Timberwolves star Mike Conley contributed 19 points.

While Melo is worried about the pressure on Edwards, he seems to have faith in his teammate. When asked about how to guard Jokic, the Ant-Man had an interesting answer.  “I don’t know [about how to guard him], I don’t have to guard him… It look hard. I dunno, mother**ker’s unstoppable. So I dunno, you gotta ask Naz and Rudy and Kyle. It looks hard,” Edwards said to the reporter, Dan Moore. He also added how the team needed Towns to guard Jokic.

At present, the situation is rather precarious with Towns out for his knee injury. While his teammates have got his back, the fate of the Timberwolves now rests in Edwards’ hands. What is your take on this? Let us know in the comments section below.
