As Kobe Bryant Immortalization Looms, Wife Vanessa Pays Tribute in Her Own Way

The ‘Mambacita’ Sports Foundation has made quite an impact over the last few years, carrying forward the name of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna. And now, Kobe’s widow Vanessa Bryant will use this platform to honor her late husband and the 5x NBA champion ahead of a huge day in her life.

Vanessa announced a stunning apparel line three years ago and consistently, she has released new color lines over the years to use the money for her sports foundation. The last edition was for Christmas 2023. And in just a few weeks, we are back with a new color line for February 8. Well, what’s special about February 8?

The Los Angeles Lakers have announced that they will be unveiling the Kobe Bryant statue at the Crypto.com arena on the said date. Along with this Lakers honor, Vanessa has now released the stone gray capsule collection to mark the day, which she shared on her Instagram.

The caption read, To commemorate the upcoming statue unveiling in honor of Kobe, the Stone Grey capsule collection is available now…Thank you again for all your support in furthering Kobe and Gianna’s legacy.”

Just a few weeks ago, Vanessa Bryant announced the red capsule collection. A pair of a hoodie and a track which was all red hit the market for Christmas and in just a few hours, it was sold out. Now the stone grey capsule is out and they’re likely to sell even faster given the occasion the launch coincides with.

This is in fact a long awaited honor. Famous Lakers superstars like Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Elgin Baylor, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have been honored by the Lakers in the last few decades. Yet, the new Kobe Bryant statue is going to mean the most for the Lakers fanbase due to his tragic demise.

Bryant will be the 7th Laker to get commemorated by the team. His statue will be seen on the Star Plaza outside the Crypto.com Arena which will be unveiled at 3 pm PT, and will also be telecasted on live TV. Former stars and legends of the Lakers franchise are expected to make a live appearance.
