Maybe the world was turning upside down, or the sun rose in the wrong direction for Skip Bayless. The outspoken analyst has been a victim of scathing attacks from Phoenix Suns legend Charles Barkley in the past. After years of staying quiet, Bayless finally raised his voice. However, instead of keeping his distance from the man who said he would kill him, the ‘Undisputed’ analyst wants him right next to him. Perhaps someone recited to him the old adage of keeping your friends close, and your enemies closer.

Of course, it was bound to invite some opinions regardless. And a Boston Celtics legend feels it would be a bad move for the Chuckster.

Celtics legend doesn’t want Charles Barkley to partner with Skip

Paul Pierce was a recent guest on the ‘It Is What It Is’ podcast. While on, the show he reacted to Skip Bayless wanting Charles Barkley to join him on ‘Undisputed’. His plea was sarcastic where the analyst claimed he would “annihilate” Barkley effortlessly and even get to semi-retire. However, no one on the stage seemed to love the idea of Barkley joining forces with his arch-nemesis.

Pierce even said, “don’t do it man” as the hosts dismissed the notion. He clearly expressed his belief that Bayless would use Barkley for his own ends.

After digressing from the topic, the Celtics legend even named a few people who could replace Shannon Sharpe. The first name he thought of was former NFL star, LeSean McCoy. The NBA legend felt he would stand tall to the outbursts of Bayless and bring his honest takes onboard.

Regardless of Bayless’ intentions, it makes little sense for him and Chuck to pair up.

The obvious reason is the evident disrespect each has reflected for the other. From calling him out for his double standards in regard to LeBron James to abusing the FS1 analyst, the Philadelphia 76ers legend has left no stone unturned. He even called Bayless “an idiot” during the recent broadcast of ‘The Match’.

Pierce once faced the wrath of the media

Before having his own podcast besides Kevin Garnett, The Truth was a member of ESPN.

He was hired as a studio analyst just like Charles Barkley. For the first two years, Paul Pierce had a respected career within the organization. However, his one night of fun turned out to be his demise from the network.

While celebrating his friend’s birthday, Pierce shared a live video of the entertainment. Unfortunately, ESPN deemed it unfit according to their morals clause which led to his firing in 2021.

Pierce was unapologetic about the situation and insists he did nothing wrong. But clearly, it taught him a thing or two about who and who not to trust. Given his take on Barkley’s ‘Undisputed’ move, it seems that Pierce is cautioning Chuck to not get involved with the wrong people.

However, many rivals earn respect after intense battles. If it ever does happen, do you think Charles Barkley and Skip Bayless will become buddies? Let us know in the comments below.
