NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal has had a major influence on his kids along with countless people from around the world. Three of his children have made attempts to follow in their father’s footsteps and make their mark in professional basketball. As the rumors around Shaq’s 17-year-old prodigy, Me’Arah, heading to her father’s alma mater grow, the former NBA star’s ex-wife seems to have put a possible spanner in the works with her latest outing.

The 4x NBA champion’s sons, Shareef and Shaqir, have already shown their talent at the college level. Following them, Shaq’s youngest daughter, Me’arah, is coming fresh off an astounding high school career. Her dominance over the basketball court has placed her as the No. 35-rated recruit in the 2024 class.

A few hours ago, Shaunie Henderson took to her official Instagram account to share a post with her 1.8 Million followers. Donning a pair of huge glasses, a Florida Gators jacket, and a pair of shorts, the 48-year-old was seen at an event held in collaboration with Michael Jordan’s brand and the Florida Gators.

The event was held just as the team is set to face off against the McNeese State Cowboys as part of the ongoing NCAA football tournament. Highlighting her amusing look, Shaunie took to the caption of the post to write “I was a gator for the day”, accompanied by an alligator and a laughing emoji. Shaunie also tagged her youngest daughter, Me’arah O’Neal, in said caption.

The post drew reactions from people everywhere. From her new husband, Keion Henderson, to her daughter, everyone shared their amusement over what they saw. Me’arah went as far as sharing the post on her own Instagram story. The post caught the attention of the Los Angeles Lakers legend and Shaunie’s son Shareef as well. He followed the same action as his sister and shared his reaction on his story.

Along with her surname, the skills and prowess that Me’arah O’Neal has continued to display on the basketball court have resulted in various colleges offering her opportunities to play for their respective teams.

Keeping the same in mind, many fans and analysts have speculated whether Me’arah would consider joining her father’s alma mater: The LSU Tigers. It has been over five months since the teen received a scholarship from the team, and anticipation grows with each passing day.

Shaquille O’Neal himself has been a big part of raising speculation over what step his daughter would be taking. From having dinner with LSU coach Kim Mulkey to showing up at her games, the 4x NBA champion is standing behind in order to support his daughter and is ready to push her towards the right choice.

The young prodigy herself has had a few words to share about her future prospects. “I’m definitely big on relationships…So whichever school is most invested and where I’ll have a successful career is definitely where I will end up,” said Me’arah O’Neal during an interview.
