This weekend, the energetic music of SZA and Kendrick Lamar transformed Lumen Field into a magical place. The rain came knocking just before the concert was set to start. Amidst this frenzy of music, none other than Isaiah Thomas added a pinch of the local spice. His love for his city and the fantastic scene set the stage for a magic moment.
Days after the event, on a beautiful morning in the park, Isaiah’s Instagram story showed his daughter joyfully dancing to SZA’s “30 for 30.” He playfully captioned it, “You need anymore dancers @Sza?” This her favourite song,” indirectly pitching his daughter’s love for SZA! The SZA-Kendrick concert in Seattle
The skies opened up on Saturday night, and Seattle just danced harder. “This rain ain’t stoppin’ nothing,” shouted one fan, and they were right. From the first beat of DJ Mustard’s pre-show set to the final explosion of fireworks and applause, all of Lumen Field was filled with energy. “Y’all got a special energy to be in the rain and turned up like this,” SZA said with a huge smile, and genuinely felt every word.
Kendrick Lamar arrived in a car filled with smoke like the king he is, opening with “DNA.” He continued with hits like “HUMBLE,” “King Kunta,” and “Not Like Us.” SZA cast a whole different sort of magic, taking the stage for “Saturn,” “Kill Bill,” and “Blind.” The city literally and metaphorically held its breath when both performed “All the Stars” and “30 for 30” together.
