Just days ago, reports surfaced revealing that Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s diss tracks raked in a staggering $15.3 million in 2024. While fans have had mixed feelings about the drama fueling their success, Baron Davis might be quietly celebrating. A few months ago, the former NBA star shared that the feud was good for the rap industry, even admitting he eagerly awaited the next diss track. But while the beef seems to have simmered for now, Lamar did something recently that brought immense joy to Davis—or more specifically, his lesser-known son, Luke Alden Davis.

Davis couldn’t keep quiet about the heartwarming moment. Taking to his X account, he shared a video of Kendrick Lamar performing with his son, Luke, right by his side. “Kdot @kendricklamar brought my son LA on stage ❤ West Coast love,” Davis captioned the post.

During Lamar’s concert, the rapper was surrounded by kids, with Luke visibly thrilled, jumping and grooving. It was a night the young boy, and clearly his proud dad, won’t forget.

Luke, born on January 10, 2016, is Davis and Isabella Brewster’s second son, their first being Kingman, born on August 22, 2014. Although Davis and Isabella are separated now, the former NBA star remains deeply connected to his kids. In fact, he once revealed the heartfelt inspiration behind Luke’s name, paying homage to his grandfather.

Now, coming back to Lamar and Drake’s feud, it’s impossible to ignore the financial powerhouse their rivalry has become. Davis, ever the observer, seems to understand this is not just about the bars—it’s about the business.

Baron Davis liked the Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef

Recently, Billboard revealed some jaw-dropping numbers about Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s ongoing diss-track rivalry. In 2024 alone, their tracks combined to bring in an eye-popping $15.3 million. Kendrick’s Not Like Us dominated the charts, pulling in $7.6 million, with Like That following at $4.6 million. Meanwhile, Drake’s response track, Family Matters, added $981,300 to the pot.

But the earnings don’t stop there. Kendrick’s Push Ups added $969,400, and Meet The Grahams contributed another $795,100. On Drake’s side, his track Euphoria brought in a solid $441,300. And while the fans might argue over which side is winning, one person who’d likely call this a victory for everyone is Baron Davis. He’s been vocal about how rap beef keeps the culture alive and thriving.

Back in April, Davis didn’t hold back while talking to TMZ at the airport. “He should go, he should go up again,” Davis said, urging Drake to respond after Kendrick and J. Cole’s shots. “I mean, Cole got off, you know, obviously Kendrick set it off. So, I think K Dot come in with some—and we got to wait to see what Drake gone say.”

While many called the feud between these two artists the biggest rap beef of the 21st century, what is their impact?

As per many, it has opened the door to more collaboration between different communities on the West Coast and Davis, of course, one of them.
