There’s a stir in the Big 3 again! The co-founder of the league has consistently put in immense effort as he continues to bring in new improvements. His demands for the Big3 to receive the same attention as the NBA might have seen a new light, as NBA insider Chris Haynes shared a Big3 update involving Michael Beasley with fans. But netizens soon handed the co-founder a tough reality check!
Started in 2017, the Big3 by Ice Cube gained much popularity from former basketball players who still have much to prove on the court. The 3×3 basketball format, too, has attracted attention, and the founder is all set to welcome the 8th edition of the league. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Big3 didn’t have a season in 2020. As June approaches for the new edition, Haynes dropped a truth bomb.
And this was yet another twist between rivals Beasley and Lance Stephenson. As per the reports, Beasley isn’t fond of the franchise’s decision to choose the latter with the No. 1 overall pick. “@TheBig3 News: Michael Beasley — of the expansion Miami 305 team — is upset the franchise drafted Lance Stephenson with the No. 1 overall pick and is contemplating requesting a trade, sources tell me,” Haynes wrote on X.

After Beasley’s stint in the NBA as one of the most promising stars, he is now part of the Big3 with the Miami 305 team. And there is reportedly some beef between the two stars, which involves serious trash talk and getting physical. Earlier, tensions flared between the former Miami Heat player and Stephenson during their 1v1 matchup in The Next Chapter.

And if the rumors are true and things work out for Beasley, there’s a chance that a trade might happen. Even if the reason seems quite unbelievable, this bizarre trade rumor has become quite amusing. While it has gained attention, fans have called out Haynes for sharing non-NBA news.
Years after Ice Cube’s bold claims, fans react to Michael Beasley’s trade
As said, one of the fans was upset over the NBA insider sharing about the Big3 and showed their disinterest. “Chris Haynes reporting on Big 3 news,” the netizen wrote. Ever since the launch of the Big 3, the founder has been vocal about how the league should receive as much attention as the NBA. Despite the format being new, fans liked the concept.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Ice Cube's Big3 ever gain the respect it deserves, or will it always be in the NBA's shadow?
Have an interesting take?
This league was also an opportunity for lesser-known talents to shine and for the former stars to show their ability, even if they are no longer in their prime. However, there has seemingly been resistance to it. “Yeah turning off my alerts for this tweet,” another fan wrote.
Ice Cube has been clear in his thoughts that he doesn’t wish to compete with the NBA but to coexist with it. But many didn’t like that Haynes shared the update. One wrote, “You really reporting this? Nah, you had to be hacked bc ain’t no way.”
Ice Cube has also called out the NBA for staying silent on the matter and not showing enough support to a coexisting league. In a frustrated rant, Ice Cube commented that the NBA has a personal reason for not collaborating with him. He even claimed that the Big3 doesn’t need the NBA and will continue without its help.

While the league continues to grow, the comments tell a different story: “Oh bro we don’t even kind of care,” and “Lmao had to check if this was a parody account.”
Not to forget, some of the biggest basketball stars, Allen Iverson, Joe Johnson, and Amar’e Stoudemire, have geared up for action in the league. While Ice Cube has been right about how the league has expanded, can the same be said about its popularity among NBA fans?
