Me’Aarah O’Neal has risen to one of the top basketball prospects in the country on her merit. At 17, she has to make an important decision about college. In case you’re wondering if Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter is living up to her famous dad’s hype, she’s about to show that this weekend. 40 girls and 40 boys have been invited from high schools across the country for a tournament. The 2023 Nike World Basketball Festival is combining culture with basketball in a spectacular way.

On September 15 and 16, they’re hosting a tournament at New York’s Lincoln Center.  One of the young athletes competing is California-based high school star, Me’Arah O’Neal. She shared the official post by Nike on her Instagram Stories to make sure her 182k followers would know.

The 6’4″ standout participated in the 2023 Nike Girls Elite Youth Girls Basketball Tournament in July 2023. She competed on the Nike affiliate team, CYFAIR Elite Sports. Shaq didn’t miss the chance to support his daughter then. He arrived at the game to cheer her on.

Me’Arah shared several glimpses of the game including pictures with her supportive dad on Instagram. Now, it’s her mother who’s cheering on from the stands.

Shaunie won’t miss her daughter’s big moment

Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife, Shaunie Henderson is not one to miss out on her children’s milestones. She’s accompanying her daughter to college tryouts, including to potential pick, Florida recently. Speculation is rife that Me’Arah could also pick LSU, Shaq’s alma mater.

Like Me’Arah, Shaunie also shared a post on the Nike Basketball event on her Instagram Stories. She went a step further with the caption, “My girl got me on tour this year.”

Shaunie already hops between Texas and California and wherever her work and family commitments take her. Joining her daughter to college tours is just another day in her life.

Neither Shaunie or Shaquille have been subtle about how proud they are of their youngest. She’s ranked among the top prospects of the country and is potentially a future WNBA star. Now all eyes are on her as she prepares to commit to a college.
