Todd Boehly’s stint at Chelsea has been far from impressive. Due to underperformance, the club is in real danger of completely missing out on European competition, especially the Champions League. After two disastrous years under Boehly, the Premier League club continues to struggle. Now, if things don’t go the right way, the club might have to face a big hit with a $60 million loss. Per sources, Michael Jordan‘s brand might pull its deal if the club can’t qualify for European competition.

The Jordan Brand is closely watching the situation and their deal as a kit manufacturer for the club is said to hinge on where they finish. The deal could earn $60 million annually for the club that’s already struggling financially because of some poor decisions. With the whopping amount lost last time for sacking their Champion League’s winning manager and with no success in recouping the revenues, the loss of the Jordan Brand deal could land the club in trouble. A reliable X user shared, “Jordan Brand will not want to cooperate if the club does not advance to the Champions League or Europa League. They are waiting for the situation to develop.”

Chelsea currently holds the 11th position in the Premier League, and trailing 17 points behind the fourth place. There are only 12 remaining games in the season for the club to transform and maintain their position. However, they only need to reach 7th place to qualify for the Europa Cup. Though, of course, Chelsea is a club with historically greater ambitions.

Chelsea’s victory under Roman Abramovich

The club has a commendable track record and has missed out on the Champions League only five times since the 1999-2000 season. Before Todd Boehly, the club had seen a successful run under Roman Abramovich’s leadership and gained about 21 trophies. Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes that much of the club’s success should be credited to the owner Abramovich’s efforts.

Reminiscing Abramovich’s run and strict action, Lampard said on The Overlap YouTube channel, “He (Abramovich) came and had a few harsh meetings with us in those few years when he was more present.”

The soccer club has been working hard to make it work with Riyadh Air, Saudi Carrier, Bank of America, and Malaysia Airlines. But there hasn’t been any improvement for the same reason. The last time such a situation arose for the club was in the 2016/17 season. However, it won the Premier League title that season. Could Chelsea turn things around and secure the Jordan Brand’s deal?
