Michael Jordan‘s love for his brand is well known, and he is extremely protective of the brands he owns and has worked with. So, if you’re going to meet the great man, one piece of advice would be to wear Jordans. That’s coming from legendary rapper Jadakiss who has had several meetings with MJ.

During a recent conversation with Carmelo Anthony, Jadakiss talked about his experience when he first met Mike. He said that it was during a Floyd Mayweather fight and there were some things that the New York icon learned after meeting him.

Jadakiss unveils dress code to meet Michael Jordan

Have a dress code to meet someone? It might sound absurd but then again, it is Michael Jeffrey Jordan that we’re talking about. The Lox rapper said that at his first meeting with the Chicago Bulls legend, MJ gave him a good look up and down. This was because Jordan is very particular about who wears what while standing in front of him. He said, “What you got on determines how many words you gon’ get from him[Jordan].” It seems like MJ took his vicious attitude off the court with him and implemented it in his business ventures as well.

The most important thing Jadakiss learned is that, “If you got one of the enemies[rival brands] on,” you’re not going to get his attention. He said, “If he sees the symbol, the conversation gon’ be a little extensive.” Considering the man being discussed, this doesn’t seem like a big ask from him. As a token of just how much MJ values his brand, on another occasion when the two met and Jadakiss had Jordans on, MJ told him, “You look good boy.” However, this is not the first story related to Jordan giving his brand a preference.

When Michael Jordan denied Pitbull a taste of his tequila

Jordan and Pitbull cross paths very often as the two own teams in NASCAR. So during one such instance, Pitbull came across Jordan backstage and there was a party going on. Needless to say, Jordan’s Cincoro tequila was the highlight of the party and when Pitbull went to take a shot of it, he was stopped by MJ.

MJ told him, “Nah you don’t take a shot of that. You sip that.” Based on the request from the brand’s owner, Pitbull had to resort to taking his advice and recalled, “I did sip it and I got fu**** up.”
