“That was one of the reasons I had to walk away from the game, too, because of family and friends,” former NBA player Brandon Jennings cited family issues when he announced his retirement seven years ago. But back in 2008, he made headlines by going pro straight out of high school in the Italian league. Alongside this move, he also secured a lucrative deal with an apparel brand! And over the last few years, he has made quite an impressive net worth. Here is how it all began for the former NBA player.
The 2008 McDonald’s All-American signed a $1.65 million contract with Lottomatica Roma after he was unsure if he would get into college. Jennings credited Sonny Vaccaro for supporting his unconventional path to the pro league. Around the same time, he also landed a $2 million endorsement deal with Under Armour. His bold decisions paid off when he was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks.
Jennings signed a four-year, $10 million rookie contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, as per Celebrity Net Worth. Later, he was offered a $40 million extension by the team, but he turned it down due to a misunderstanding. Later, he accepted a three-year, $24 million deal with the Detroit Pistons. Unfortunately, his torn Achilles tendon during the 2014–2015 season significantly impacted his career. He averaged 14.1 points and 5.7 assists across 555 games. Jennings felt that if he wasn’t injured, he would have made All-Star appearances.

Throughout his NBA career, Jennings earned nearly $40 million in NBA salary. He later had brief stints overseas before ultimately retiring from professional basketball. Since retirement, he has made frequent appearances on the Gil’s Arena podcast and launched his own streetwear label, which has helped boost his net worth of $14 million as per Celebrity Net Worth.
During his appearance on the “Above The Rim with DH12” podcast, Jennings explained the reason behind his retirement. “You don’t want to be looked at as a cash cow… So, the biggest thing I would say is you got to stay spiritual, you got to keep the right people around you that can help you, that are adding value to your life. Be okay to say no,” Jennings said.
