Bronny James has appeared in the NBA draft combine and since then has been garnering support from a lot of NBA legends. Even Uncle Shaquille O’Neal had encouraging words for his nephew. “…I wish him well and I hope he does well in the tryouts. I hope he gets drafted pretty high and I hope he gets to play with his father. That actually would be awesome too.” Yet during his performance, the hot topic of discussion was his height. During his time at USC Trojans, he was listed as 6’4″ but during the combine, he measured at 6’1″ without shoes. But the former Warriors coach is having none of this take and said: “…You can’t overreact with those numbers.”

The 19-year-old knew the world would be watching and he didn’t disappoint during the combine. LeBron James has the NBA scoring record. So it was time for Bronny to show his offensive side. The star shooting drill placed Bronny as the second-best performer amongst the 120+ players present. Not only that, his top performance during the vertical recorded a 40.5-inch leap. So does 3 inch difference make a world of difference? According to Mark Jackson, even the GOATS don’t perform well at the combine.

In episode 51 of the Mark Jackson Show, he told the story of Tom Brady’s combined performance to his son Bluu Jackson. According to Jackson, the NFL legend was one of the slowest dudes on the day. “He had a shirt off and the slowest dude to ever run the 40. I mean, and here he is the GOAT. So, you can’t overreact with those numbers. You can’t overreact.” The Rookie of the Year award in 1988 compared his performance in the combine to offer some more words of encouragement for Bronny James.

Will Bronny James have a team next season?

The 59-year-old said how he was selected as the 18th pick in the draft but had the worst performances during the combine. “I’d have been the worst in the Sprints. I’d been the worst defensively. I’d have been the worst in the shooting.” Yet he won the Rookie of the Year because, after all, stats don’t tell the whole story.

Further hyping up Bronny’s chances for the upcoming NBA season. He said, “I believe he’s a pro and I believe he will be drafted and have a successful NBA career.” The Los Angeles Lakers legend even praised his son via Instagram stories after watching him perform exceptionally well in the combine.

Even Bluu Jackson had kind words for Bronny since he very well understands the expectations from an NBA legend’s son. Saying people are unnecessarily harping on the negatives even when he has performed well in the combine.
