Despite LeBron James leading the Los Angeles Lakers to an in-season tournament championship, Carmelo Anthony does not believe that they deserve the title of a ‘super team’. But what is more shocking is that he decided to go right across the hall and give the honor to the Los Angeles Clippers, who have recently started to pull things together after a disappointing stretch of games.

Although teams like the Lakers and Denver Nuggets are high on NBA rankings, they don’t fall under the super team category criteria set by the 10x All-Star, as it is more player-oriented.

Carmelo Anthony picks the Clippers

In a recent episode of the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast, Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero talked about super teams in NBA history. During this conversation, Carmelo explained the difference between a great team and a super team.

In his description, if a team has more than two superstars on the roster, then that team is a super team. So, Anthony feels like there is currently only one super team in the NBA.

Carmelo said, “Only one super team in the NBA, and that’s the Clippers. Because of what they have. You got four of the best players of all time in NBA history on one team. So yes, you are a super team.” The Clippers have 4 superstars on their roster. Although they struggled at first, they are now a serious threat in the Western Conference.

With the team that they have, the Clippers can be dominant once they figure things out. After their initial struggles, the Clippers are slowly learning to play with each other and are building themselves up as a championship contender.

After trading for James Harden, the Clippers went on a losing streak, and fans and the media were not showing them any mercy. But recently, as they started resolving their issues, the team has been playing well and is currently on a 5-game winning streak.
