Carmelo Anthony’s 17-year-old is just one high school season away from a major life milestone. And La La Anthony is all set for it. As most fans would know, Kiyan Anthony committed to Syracuse this year. Thus, stepping one step closer to his father’s legacy. Yep, Melo was the face of the squad that won Syracuse Orange its only NCAA championship. Now fans await to see if his son can repeat a similar success at the college. Whatever the eventual outcome might be, La La has already made big plans for her son’s debut game.

Speaking with TMZ Sports at the Million Dollar Giveback event in New York City, La La couldn’t contain her excitement about supporting her son on this monumental journey.

When asked if she had her game-day look planned, she laughed, “I don’t have [the outfits] yet, but I think I’m going to be that mom that’s, like, Syracuse-geared out. For sure.” It’s safe to say we can expect La La to bring her A-game, both in fashion and energy. But Carmelo Anthony’s ex wife isn’t stopping at just showing up. She hinted at rallying her celebrity circle to cheer on Kiyan.

“You know we going to come in there. We going to come in there for sure,” she teased, making it clear that Kiyan’s debut will be a star-studded event.

Now, although he won’t officially suit up for Syracuse until 2025, Kiyan is already immersing himself in the Orange culture. The 17-year-old is expected to attend their New Year’s Eve showdown against Wake Forest, a team that handed Syracuse a rough 99-70 loss earlier this year. For Kiyan, this game is more than spectating—it’s about visualizing his future with the team and soaking in the intensity of college basketball.

Kiyan Anthony might have old company in Syracuse that could boost team synergy

Things are heating up on the recruiting trail! While Kiyan’s commitment had everyone talking, another Long Island Lutheran (LuHi) star is turning heads. Meet Moussa Kamissoko, Anthony’s reportedly 6’8″ teammate, who just scored his own offer from the Orange.

Kamissoko, however, isn’t just a sidekick to Carmelo Anthony’s son. He’s carving out his own path as part of the 2027 class, showcasing his skills for both LuHi and the PSA Cardinals AAU team. With his mix of size, defensive chops, and knack for making plays, it’s no wonder big programs are taking notice.

Now, imagine this: Kiyan and Moussa reuniting at Syracuse. Their chemistry is already baked in, and that could mean instant synergy for the Orange. But that is not all. Back in early November when Kiyan did not even reveal his final choice, Dushawn London of 247 Sports had tweeted the guard’s thoughts on choosing the Orange if he did.

As per Kiyan, “I feel like they’re really building something there and if I were to go there I could be a part of that.” Sadiq White, Kiyan’s friend who stands at the 26th national rank is also joining him at Syracuse in the class of 2025, also adding to the building camaraderie.

Moreover, Kiyan, who has already revealed that he might wear No. 7 as an Orange, also mentioned on Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast that the young coaches at Syracuse would be much easier for him to connect with and build a bond that will eventually help in his performance.

While there is time still for the Big Apple’s top guard to suit up in the Orange jersey, we know one name who’ll be cheering the roster the loudest: La La Anthony in her all-Syracuse fit.
