Even after three years of divorce, La La Anthony’s answer remains unchanged. When asked, ‘Who is your favorite NBA player?’ her 17-year-old son, Kiyan Anthony, proudly names Paul George. However, when the same question is directed at the former MTV VJ, her answer is still the same old one, Carmelo Anthony. She’s even quick to reprimand her son if he ever names anyone other than Camelo Anthony.

Kiyan recently appeared on the Sloane Knows podcast, where the host invited La La to join a fun Q&A round. Both were asked to name each other’s favorite things. Kiyan may have lost the game overall, but he got one thing right, his mom’s favorite NBA player is, and always has been, Melo.

And really, anyone who’s followed La La knows that answer by heart. Just days ago, La La faced some backlash after her appearance at Fanatics Fest NYC, where she mentioned that she plans to keep her last name for a while. While some supported her decision, others criticized it as desperate.

Despite the drama, La La stands by her choices, keeping her last name for her son’s sake. As for her favorite NBA player, the only time we might see it change is if Kiyan makes it to the NBA. She’s even open to cheering for another team if Kiyan doesn’t end up with the Knicks.

But for now, it’s still all about Melo.

Kiyan Anthony concedes to mother’s suggestion

Even in the second round, La La stuck to her favorite answer. The task required La La and Kiyan to take turns naming their top four NBA players, with each allowed to give different answers. For the fifth player, however, they had to mutually agree on one.

La La chose Michael Jordan and Julius Erving, while Kiyan selected the Lakers stars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. When asked to name their number five player, La La once again picked the New York Knicks legend, Melo, and this time Kiyan agreed. The 17-year-old must have realized that his previous choice of Paul George as his GOAT, instead of Melo, had upset his mother.

La La and Carmelo Anthony had been facing issues since 2017, though they reconciled several times. The BMF actress believed that New York City had been a major source of tension in their relationship, followed by Melo’s infidelity rumors. In 2021, the two ultimately divorced.
