Nike EYBL, Summer Classic, and No.1 recruit in New York, Kiyan Anthony has been the one to watch over the summer. And his father has been no less proud. “The fans are starting to see, OK, he’s coming to his own. That’s the most important part,” Carmelo Anthony admitted. Now all eyes on him, an important task lies ahead for the 17-year-old as he makes his senior year of high school. But seems like making a decision hasn’t been easy as he holds onto his options after nearly hinting at following his father’s steps.

Kiyan Anthony reportedly received 21 college offers. By July this year, he had narrowed it down to just 6. Now in his recent appearance on the Sloane Knows Podcast the 17-year-old has an update on his choices. “Yeah, I have two visits scheduled next month in September and then one in October,” he said. “So I got USC and Rutgers next month, and I’m trying to go to Ohio State as my last visit. So yeah.

Previously, On3 favored Syracuse with an 89.3% probability while Florida State came in second with a mere 7.3%. Now Carmelo Anthony’s alma mater is still the favorite but has fallen to 80.3%, Rutgers is up second with 6.6%, and USC where the visit is scheduled next is 4.7%.

So the majority is still with the Orange squad, where Carmelo Anthony won the NCAA championship in 2003. Even Kiyan was mesmerized when he first went on a visit to Syracuse. “It was definitely crazy seeing everything with my dad, you know, everything named after him.” The 6-foot-5 guard spoke to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson last month. In speaking about it, Kiyan also had a hint to drop.

Carmelo Anthony and his son’s next conundrum

I’m looking forward to taking a second visit and then nobody knows, I might go there.” The Syracuse coaches had also been in touch with Kiyan, and even watched him during his EYBL stint, where the 17-year-old shined with his offensive abilities as he averaged just below 20 points.

Contributing to his Number 11 in the rankings and the 19.6-point average, was one of his most reminiscent 40-point performance that led Team Melo to an 81-50 win over Mac Irvin. Before this, while playing for the Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.), Kiyan averaged nearly 10.3 points. Plus his contribution of 2.4 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game made the school the No. 3-ranked team in the National Top 10.

So it’s obvious that Carmelo Anthony’s son is not just hype. He can back his number 1 tag in New York with performances. Even though Kiyan has positive relations with Head Coach Adrian Autry and his assistants, his next stop is not becoming obvious yet. Although Syracuse appears to have an advantage right now, the other colleges still getting their rounds, leaves a question.
