With reports emerging that Warner Bros was unable to match NBC’s offer for the NBA package, Charles Barkley had seemingly decided he was in no hurry to work on a new show and could happily retire. But now King Charles has decided enough is enough and might even take the matter into his own hands.

“We just sit back waiting on these people to figure out what they are gonna do,” was his initial response when Dan Patrick asked him about the future. He discussed the possibility of hiring the crew to his own production company, continuing to do the show, and selling it. With TNT on the brink of losing the NBA, Charles Barkley just ripped the executives at Turner and even called them fools.

Barkley was upset because TNT recently bought the rights and added college football playoff games on a five-year deal. According to him ” We’ve never had college football that never been involved with college football. And I’m like, wait a minute, shouldn’t we be spending every dime? We got to keep the NBA!

Later Sir Charles even floated the idea of hiring Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson to his production company. While suggesting he might sell the rights to ‘Inside the NBA’ to another network and even possibly Amazon. Later Barkley also why he was upset with the executives for multiple reasons.

Charles Barkley loves the show as his family

Chuck explained how he has been part of the show for 24 years now, and spent time with the crew for that period. He gave an example of how some crew members “bring their newborns in, they bring their kids in, they’d come in like when they were in high school. And now they’re graduating from college. ” That’s how long and strong the bond is. ” So, yeah, I’m angry at people who they’re like, you know, they’re part of my family to be honest with you. So, and I feel bad for those guys.”

Another reason why he was upset was because of the comments made by David Zaslav. Back in 2022, he commented, “We don’t have to have the NBA.” So Barkley feels this might have upset the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. He also added even if the bosses didn’t want the NBA, the rest of the crew needed it. Such comments according to him don’t make sense. And with NBC ahead in the pecking order, we all can understand why.

Lastly, he pointed out how the entire crew has been kept in the dark regarding their future. “Me, Kenny, and Ernie talk about it, Shaq all the time. Like people walk up to me. I’m not even joking 20 times a day. I’m like, dude, thank you for the kind words, but I have zero idea what’s going to happen.

Starting their production might be the best solution that fans were waiting for. Since Johnson had decided as per Barkley that he won’t move to any other network. But with production under the control of Charles Barkley Johnson, Shaq, and Smith might since again be together.
