“I don’t think they can win the championship”. Charles Barkley’s take on New York Knicks was blunt. It seems, however, that despite his time and again harsh takes against the Knicks, he has some love for the state. At least his recent visit and stay in NY reflects something similar. The 11x All Star was recently in the state and rather than picking a lavish hotel, he found his accommodation at an inn in Fredonia.

The historic White Inn recently underwent a $3.2 million transformation. Reopened on November 18, the boutique hotel now serves as a combination of a hotel, restaurant, and event center. The fact that Barkley not only stayed at the Inn but also liked it was revealed by staff member Brittany Ludemann, in an interview with WDOE News. She stated Barkley said, “‘The place just felt like home.'” As per what Ludemann mentioned, Chuck found the Inn to be beautiful and very welcoming.
Built in 1868 as a private residence, the White Inn transitioned into an inn around 1920. After years of neglect and foreclosure, Steve St. George and Devin Jones brought the property back to life. The 25,000-square-foot building now offers 25 updated guest rooms and suites, each brimming with charm.

It has been three weeks since Fredonia’s White Inn reopened to the public, and two of the hotel’s staff members told WDOE News today that the public response has been amazing. They also spoke about Charles Barkley’s stay at the facility over the weekend. https://t.co/6RryYqIRwS pic.twitter.com/uXQIgHqCWK

Modern amenities like a new HVAC system and an ADA-compliant elevator blend seamlessly with preserved artifacts and photographs that honor the Inn’s storied past. Beyond the accommodations, the White Inn also boasts an event center perfect for weddings, proms, and celebrations, as well as cozy spaces for smaller gatherings.
No wonder that Barkley enjoyed his recent stay in New York despite whatever he might’ve said about the Knicks.

Charles Barkley predicts Knicks’ 2024-25 run
Barkley has never been one to sugarcoat his opinions, especially when it comes to the Knicks. Recently on NBA on TNT, he gave fans something to chew on, saying, “I am high on the Knicks; I don’t think they can win the championship… Their ceiling is Eastern Conference finals.” Ouch!

If you’re a Knicks fan, that’s the kind of comment that might sting a bit. Especially when the team’s faithful are dreaming of banner-worthy glory. But here’s the kicker: this isn’t even the first time Barkley has ruffled Knicks fans’ feathers.
Back in May, after Knicks’ exhilarating 130-121 Game 2 win over the Pacers in 2024 postseason, Barkley was quick to rain on their parade. “If the Knicks win that’ll be good… But I would love to see they ass get stomped by the Celtics,” he quipped. His stay at the White Inn, however, suggests he has no issues with the state itself. Seemingly just the Knicks.
