When Kenny Smith arrived at the New York studio this morning, the sun was shining, birds were chirping, the Tar Heels were winning, and there was more food. Then it was all ruined because Charles Barkley showed up to work. A mere six hours ago, ‘The Jet’ was having a ball with his March Madness co-hosts that were prominently missing his TNT colleagues. Then Chuck arrived and “shenanigans” ensued.

After letting his Instagram followers know he was enjoying a Chuck-less morning, Kenny Smith had a fresh update on his Instagram Stories. Calling it “commercial shenanigans,” the 2x NBA champion showed he’s still got some ball tricks in him. Barkley’s next to him, getting ready when the broadcast resumes.

Perhaps Instagram rookie Chuck has not seen Kenny’s post yet. His Instagram guru had a lot less to worry about before Sir Charles decided to join the platform. Chuck, Kenny, and Ernie, along with Clark Kellogg have been leading the TNT and CBS Sports studio coverage for March Madness. But Kenny was with a new set of co-hosts this morning which he gloated about on his Stories six hours earlier.

Singing a self-composed song about the new hosts “subbing in,” Kenny wrote, “NO CHUCK THIS MORNING!! #MORE FOOD.” He sang, “No Chuck, no Chuck, no Chuck,” too. The fun lasted only so long. Barkley looked annoyed with Kenny playing around behind the scenes in his follow-up Story.

Meanwhile, Shaquille O’Neal has been absent from this panel. So Charles Barkley has been diverting his teasing energy onto Kenny Smith.

Charles Barkley vs Kenny Smith during March Madness

Chuck and Kenny get peak competitive during March Madness. After that shocker Kentucky suffered from the underdogs, Oakland, Kenny called it a “dynamic loss.” Barkley didn’t let “Captain Obvious” live that down.

Chuck suffered an upset too when his alma mater, Auburn made a first round exit. Kenny waved a banner for Yale who eliminated them as payback for the times Barkley has been mean to UNC. The disrespect prompted Chuck to fake a phone call to Michigan’s coach, Tom Izzo to beat Kenny’s Tar Heels.

Unfortunately, UNC won the second round game against Michigan 85-69 giving Kenny Smith the last laugh. With these March Madness antics, you’d never know ‘The Jet’ was so helpfully teaching Chuck how to do an Instagram Live.

Despite their bickering, Chuck and Kenny had a few moments of unity. Like when they were united in calling out refs for that bad call on Samford. Which has been your favorite Chuck-Kenny moment during this March Madness?
