Move over San Antonio! A new city got beef with Charles Barkley. He’s stepped up his rant about the city of Galveston in the playoffs despite being thoroughly apologetic to the city’s favorite celebrity, Tina Knowles. With Beyonce’s mom and other locals responding to Chuck, his sordid past was bound to come up. There is proof sent in to TNT that Chuck in fact went down to Galveston and had a fairly good time. The evidence was shown on TNT’s tip-off broadcast and Barkley doesn’t look the least bit sour.

It was shared by a local business owner, Joseph Scott, who got to take a picture with Sir Charles when the then-NBA pro visited his bike shop. Joseph wrote, “This is Barkley enjoying the bike shop in Galveston. I guess it wasn’t so bad.” That led Chuck to defend if he truly detests Galveston as he claims.

Between Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith teasing Chuckster for being there, Barkley admitted he visited Galveston decades ago for training camp when he still played with the Houston Rockets. Barkley had to admit, “I had a great time in the local hangouts.” He went on to add, “Everyone was great to me in Galveston.” He even remembered Joseph and said they took great care of him there.

If the locals were great and the training camp was good, what turned him into an enemy? “Your beach was dirty as hell,” he doubled down to Galveston locals who’ve been responding with counterclaims online.

Chuck sparked a new feud with an entire city when he said that the Pelicans deserve to go to Galveston’s beach with its “dirty a** water” instead of Cancun after OKC potentially swept them in the first round. Tina Knowles, with a nudge from son-in-law Jay-Z, called him out for it. Even the city council of Galveston turned the ‘washed out’ jokes on Chuck’s ringless NBA career. But for the first time, Barkley expressed his love for the people. Nice Chuck only lasts so long though.

Charles Barkley’s ‘pretty’ petty standards

Barkley claimed he visited a certain spot every day during his downtime at training camp. It was a nice place except the beach wasn’t clean to his standards. So much that he’d need “steel-toe boots” to go to the beach.

If you need proof about how much Sir Charles is into self-care, he was afraid that Galveston’s beach and water would ruin his pedicured feet. He reminded his co-hosts he gets his weekly mani-pedi and he can’t let that time and effort go to waste dipping his toes in Galveston’s water.

Too bad for Chuck, he couldn’t defend his choices further because Ernie Johnson swiftly moved on as soon as he brought up his “pretty feet.” The roast from Galveston’s side is on though. Barkley better get his manicure on!
