The NBA on TNT crew had an interesting guest for their latest episode. After making an appearance on the NBA show with Reggie Miller, famed comedian David Letterman took some time out to share his humor again with the NBA fans. The 76-year-old has had numerous opportunities to interview NBA greats such as Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and even NBA commissioner Adam Silver. Siver even stopped by the Late Show with Dave Letterman back in 2015 to share his stance on the happenings in the league. But did the two have a secret collaboration in mind too?

During his appearance on Inside the NBA, Letterman was asked by Ernie Johnson to reveal details about the secret collaboration. He asked, “For the past few years, you have been in cahoots or working alongside the NBA trying to improve?”

In response, Letterman shared, “Adam Silver came to me a couple of years ago and he knew I’m from Indiana and knew I played some high school ball and he said, ‘Dave we want you to head up a focus group.’”

He further added, He said we want to keep the ball rolling to employ a little basketball term. He said basketball term. So anyway, we’re looking at ways to improve the product.” But the TNT crew isn’t the one to let go of this opportunity. So, Kenny asked him to share more about the project.

On being asked about what this whole collaboration is going to be like, Letterman candidly shared that they are working on it and nothing is finalized as of now. Yeah, we have. Now, this is the list, some of these are on the fast track. Some of these will go right the next season, others are still being developed. So this is not a complete list,” shared Letterman, before revealing the hilarious pointers on his list.

Well, judging from the interesting and fun encounters Letterman has had with the Philadelphia 76ers star Barkley, we can surely expect something more than ordinary cooking up for his ‘secret collaboration’ for the NBA.

Chuck graced Letterman’s ‘Late Show’ couch numerous times. From a mustached Chuck with a fierce aura to a more experienced Barkley with a gentle nature, we have seen different versions of the legend. However, while looking back, the show host remembers the stark difference between him and the NBA giant on television.

During the same show, Johnson asked the 76-year-old about an old clip of his interview with Chuck. While reminiscing about those hilarious interviews, Letterman recalled how Chuck’s mustache made him look “dangerous.” And if anything, Barkley’s unique aura just added up to that. Not only Barkley, but Letterman has had some hilarious encounters with Shaq too.

During one of Shaq’s appearances on the show, the duo decided to swap their jackets. While O’Neal’s jacket hung loosely on Letterman like an overcoat, the 7-foot-tall basketball star ended up ripping the host’s jacket as he tried to fit in it. We can only hope these talented personalties cross paths more often.
