In his way of promotion, Dennis Rodman had his hair dyed into the pattern of a Canadian brand’s logo he newly collaborated with. And it was to nobody’s surprise that the 5x NBA Champion pulled it off. From smiley face to number 33s in support of teammate Scottie Pippen and many more, Rodman was never afraid to express himself. It all started when the San Antonio Spurs traded him from the Pistons before the 93-94 season. Some think his first dyed look was inspired by a movie, but it was not.

Speaking to Jonathan and Joseph DiModica on their podcast, Dennis Rodman made a key revelation. A random salon man approached him to dye his hair. At that point, he had never done it, but proceeded, anyway. “First thing I did, I just fell asleep man and then next thing you know, he started doing all the stuff.” The 63-year-old revealed via Got Sole Podcast. “I see Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes, I’m like this is not fu**ing funny right. I’m like is this real wait a minute. It was Demolition Man.

The 7x NBA Champion stated that he never gave the salon guy any instructions. After watching the movie, he found that the blonde look was similar to Wesley Snipes. So yes, Dennis Rodman wouldn’t give credit to the movie, but the guy who actually did it; marking the beginning of the many iconic Rodman hair moments.

And it wasn’t all just fashion.

In 1995, the 2x NBA DPOY even colored his hair for an actual cause. During the 1995 playoffs, Rodman dyed his hair red with the AIDS ribbon logo to raise awareness of the disease. “I felt like calling attention to AIDS,” he admitted.

Rodman had his peculiar fashion choices to go with his hair and the tattoos — he received a warning from the NBA commissioner there — and he remained steadfast in his choices. Even at 63, he continues to remain  so.

Dennis Rodman and his fashion still stand apart

Earlier this year The Worm, made an appearance on Alexander Wang’s show in New York City. The showstopper stepped out in Wang’s all-black creation at the Pre-Fall 2025 runway show. Donned in black leather-like baggy sweats accompanied by a black stole. The fur stole did cover half of his face, but couldn’t cover his head. Dennis Rodman had metallic studs stuck to his head to match the ones on his shoes.

He then partnered up with another brand after a 5-year break. The Chicago Bulls legend showcased his latest collaboration with Moose Knuckles, after the first partnership in 2019. Known for the leanest, toughest, and most luxurious sportswear, they already have an annual revenue of more than $100 million. But Rodman’s decision to have their logo on his head was just the trick for more.

The eccentric life choices, even though many did not understand, became a crucial part of Dennis Rodman’s journey. It was a way for him to unapologetically express himself. “I just took the chance to be my own man. I just said: ‘If you don’t like it, kiss my a–…’ I’m the guy who’s showing people, ‘Hey, it’s all right to be different,” he iterated in an interview with USA Today. And with the collaborations this year, it doesn’t look like he is going to stop.

“Stay tuned for more such updates and join us for the exciting second episode of the “Dual Threat Show” as our host BG12 sits down with Georgia Bulldogs star and Mountain West All-Freshman Team Selection, Asia Avinger.”
