As I had time to reflect over the last few months since retiring, I continue to think about how much big enough basketball has meant to me. As part of the next phase, I want to return I feel that I still feel that I owe this game a lot more. It made me realize another way for me to give back to the game I love so much is to give back to the fans and those who have collected my cards through the years.”

In an Instagram post, the guard from Englewood, Chicago, confirmed his plans for partnering up with trading cards company, Panini. In that video, he was seen writing certain ideas, while narrating his decision to partner up with them.

Indeed, the company is the world’s largest sports and entertainment collectibles company including: FIFA, NBA, NFL, NASCAR, and College games. As per a previous report from Bloomberg News, the company had a valuation of $3 billion or more.

Derrick Rose ended the video with a message asking them to stay locked in for the future plans with the brand. “And that’s why today I’m excited to announce that I’m coming back! We got plans! stay tuned for what’s next.” D-Rose and Panini’s connection has an interesting story as well.

When the 2009 ROTY won the accolade, that was the same year Panini entered the basketball card market. Before that, multiple companies were still producing cards. So, after that, let’s look back at some of the records that D-Rose’s cards have set.

Derrick Rose and his business ventures keep on thriving

When the youngest MVP in league history opened up his Rose’s Flower Shop, he received love from fans and legends of the game. Some fans were in the queue from the previous evening, just to get a glimpse of the native superstar.

Apart from that, Simeon High School alum also formed a partnership with the school where he won two straight state championships. The Simeon Wolverines became the first Rose school in partnership with Adidas.

Ever since his retirement, Derrick Rose’s tradable card’s value has also increased. Last month, Heritage Auctions sold the most expensive of the Bulls legend for $31,200. It was a 2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection 1/1 and broke the previous record from 2022. A 2009-10 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logos Auto 1/1 featuring both Derrick Rose and Chris Paul fetched the price of $21,608.

In order to build on that, Derrick Rose has decided to partner up with Panini. Last year, the card company secured Caitlin Clark as she became the first female athlete to have an exclusive partnership. Since then, they have launched multiple collectibles of the Fever Guard. One can expect the same treatment for D-Rose’s cards.
