There’s only one thing that Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union need! That is their 5-year-old daughter Kaavia’s approval. There were high expectations from the power couple for their Met Gala looks. And it’s safe to say, these two delivered stunning looks. While the media and fashion enthusiasts rave about the couple’s fashion game on the red carpets this year, all that the two needed was a green light from Kaavia.

The Shady Baby is utterly impressed by her mom’s outfit and thinks Union looks like a mermaid. No, it’s not just a kid’s imagination, the Bring It On actress truly looks like a mermaid who just walked out from the waters in her water-inspired Michael Kors gown. Mission accomplished,” Union said about her daughter’s verdict. She further added, “There’s only one girl we care about what we look like and that’s pleasing Shady Baby. She was like, ‘Mommy, you look like a mermaid!”

When the reporter asked Union about her previous comment regarding saving all her Met Gala dresses for Kaavia, the actress confirmed that her latest one was already on the list. She is obsessed. Like, going with the theme of the water of the elements. That’s all Kaavia. Like, she is a water baby,” Union said in an interview at the event.

When asked what the other Wade kids think about their latest Gala fashion, the Miami Heat legend and his wife stated that while Zaya has not seen it yet, she is a tough critic, which is understandable given how the 16-year-old has never served a look less than magnificent. Her latest appearance for her prom in an all-black Miu Miu gown is one such instance. However, during the Met Gala last year, Union stated that Kaavia is a tougher critic than Zaya. Let’s just say, both are equal when it comes to critiquing their parents’ fashion sense.

We often see the couple having fun while getting styled by their 5-year-old, who is quite good at it for her age. While the idea may have been inspired by that, more than anything, Gabrielle stated that she wants to preserve some of the special memories and stories for her daughter, Kaavia, to cherish.

She has some of her prized items and gowns, preserved in a special place with the right temperature, such that the items are not ruined. This includes her Met Gala gown from this year. The actress shared that even if her daughter doesn’t wish to wear them, she would have something to remember about her mom and the stories behind them.

“So I have a storage that’s just full of things that I’m like, ‘Oh, I want to be able to tell this story or how I felt wearing this.’ So it started with me putting in this beautiful display case my first Met ball outfit,” Union said in an interview with People magazine while speaking about her brand ambassador role for the brand Knix. So the Wade family continues to serve looks whenever they make an appearance.
