Despite Billionaire Owner’s $100,000 Generosity, Dennis Rodman Was Denied One Privilege by the NBA

Dennis Rodman is one of the most unique and interesting personalities in the NBA history. ‘The Worm’ was part of various controversies throughout the course of his career. Whether it was his weird dressing sense or lifestyle choices, he always found a way to stay on the news headlines.

He recently sat down to have a conversation about his interesting yet successful career, where he opened up about a rather intriguing request, which the NBA denied. But what was it about?

Dennis Rodman was a part of the Chicago Bulls side which went on to win three consecutive titles from 1996-98. He was one of the best defensive assets and a fierce rebounder. He was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame for his contributions to the game of basketball.

In the twilight of his career, Rodman played for the Dallas Mavericks in his final NBA season (1999-00). He revealed Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas outfit, made almost every one of his wishes come true but one.

Interestingly, it was an attire issue by ‘Dennis the Menace’. Rodman once stepped onto the basketball court wearing jersey number 69. He was stopped by several NBA officials and was escorted back to the dressing room to make him change his jersey.

In a conversation with Vlad TV, Rodman said, “They pushed me back in the tunnel. They said you ain’t wearing that.” The five-time champion made it clear that the officials were adamant he changed the number of his jersey because of connotations of the number 69 to a certain s**ual act.

Rodman also revealed that Mark Cuban once gave him a massive pay cheque in order to help him out when he joined his Mavericks.

Mark Cuban’s $100,000 generosity to Rodman

Dennis Rodman also revealed that the Mavericks owner Mark Cuban gave him permission to come late to training. Additionally, he also gave Rodman an additional cheque of $100,000 for all the furniture inside of his house while he was featuring for the Mavericks.

A billionaire investor now, Cuban was adamant about doing anything for Rodman so he could lead the Mavericks to an NBA title. Unfortunately, the five-time NBA champion retired after one season and left Cuban’s team incapacitated for a title bid.
