Just months after her allegations of infidelity splashed across Instagram, Sims found herself at the heart of her own redemption story. Weeks after Sims accused Matt Barnes of cheating on eight women in one month, her 16-year-old stepsons stepped up the plate. Regardless of the ups and downs, the twins ensured they didn’t let public drama get in the way of familial bonds.
Sims hasn’t held back in calling out Barnes for his mistakes and urged him to think about the kids. While the two have likely called off the engagement. Earlier in February, the model took the world by storm as she accused Barnes of being unfaithful to her. It quickly escalated when netizens noticed Sims had mentioned all eight women allegedly involved in her post. She claimed that it all happened in one month. That quickly caused a stir. Later, she posted a photo of herself and Barnes together, along with a heartbreaking message, “Why Matt? 8 different women in January,” with a heartbroken emoji.
Sims and Barnes share two children together. After their first son, Ashton, in 2018, the couple welcomed Austin. Sims, who has a daughter and two sons from her first marriage to David Patterson, also shares a great bond with Barnes’ twin sons, Isiah and Carter. Despite the possibility of estrangement, on Mother’s Day, the two planned a special surprise dinner for Sims. Later, the model shared a selfie of the three on her IG feed and wrote a wholesome message to reciprocate the love.

“Mother’s Day Dinner with my Blessings ❤️ These two surprised me and asked me to dinner to celebrate Mother’s Day 🥹🥰 Just the 3 of us for some much needed quality time. We laughed the entire time 😄 They don’t know, but I cried the whole car ride home 🥺 I love them so much! Next up dinner with the whole kid crew 🙏🏽☺️ Locked in for life,” Sims wrote.

The Barnes family even had a reality TV show on WE TV back in 2024. Titled The Barnes Bunch, the show had one season. And it seems unlikely for the show to have another season until the two confirm anything officially. Just a few weeks ago, Barnes opened up about his mistakes on the All The Smoke podcast. He claimed that he “lost” his family because he “wasn’t emotionally” there. Sims wasn’t fond of it and called him out in a now-deleted post.
“Don’t post half-truths about me and our past relationship to gain sympathy from the masses. Your post is triggering for the kids and I, while we’re in the midst of healing and rebuilding our lives. We’re the ones who reaped all the damage you caused by your constant selfish, toxic choices,” Sims wrote.
Perhaps during this time, the twins wanted to show their love and support to their stepmom. They had an adorable surprise for their mother, Gloria, as well.

The Barnes twins had a heartwarming message for their mother
Even amid family turmoil, Matt Barnes’ 16‑year‑old twins—Isaiah and Carter—made sure their mother, Gloria Govan, felt loved on Mother’s Day. Isaiah led the way on May 11, posting three nostalgic snaps to his Instagram Story: a prom‑night portrait with Govan, a tender forehead kiss, and a throwback of both boys cradled in her arms.
“Happy mother’s day mom, I love you so much @glogovan,” he wrote. The tribute carried extra weight given Isaiah’s near‑tragedy last August, when he was struck by a car while jogging and later rushed to surgery for what doctors called the largest appendix they’d ever seen. An emergency appendectomy he thankfully recovered from swiftly.
Both parents remained active online, updating their fans about their son’s condition on social media. After his successful surgery, the former Los Angeles Lakers player also shared Isiah’s adorable reunion with his twin, Carter.

The other twin reshared a post on social media and wrote a message to show love for their mother. “God, thank you for my mom,” he wrote. Regardless of their hectic schedules and their parents’ separation, the twins have always been connected with their parents. Despite their parents’ separation and Sims’ recent engagement breakup with Barnes, the twins’ posts showcased an unbreakable bond with Govan. It was a reminder that in this blended family, love and loyalty transcend any adult drama.
Their gestures echo a broader trend among NBA families, from Michael Jordan’s daughter Jasmine’s heartfelt Mother’s Day note to LaLa Anthony’s social‑media celebrations—proof that the league’s next generation values gratitude above all.
