Derrick Rose ended his stellar career last year with the announcement of his retirement. Two years after debuting in the league, he quickly gained attention, becoming the youngest MVP at the age of 22. The same year, he signed his signature shoe deal with Adidas. The relationship between the two had been long-enduring, and as part of it, he had several collaborations. One such interesting collaboration was with Jerry Lorenzo. While he failed to keep one promise, the player feels grateful for the brand’s gesture.

Back in December, Lorenzo announced that the brand would be collaborating with the 3x NBA All-Star for the new Adidas Fear of God Athletics Sneaker for Derrick Rose. He also shared a glimpse of the shoes that quickly garnered the attention of enthusiasts. When asked about this collaboration, Rose, the Chicago Bulls legend, was quick to bring up how he was supposed to wear the shoes on the court.
“I was supposed to play those this um this year but he reached out asked to do a collab and a partnership I would say and I said I agree I agreed to it but I didn’t hold up my part by like playing on the court but he showed love afterwards,” Rose said this in his latest interview on Out The Mud Podcast.

He further added, “The photo shoot he did… I mean all the other s—t too he sent some shoes for me to wear it this weekend. The shoe with my logo on them and it’s been love this whole time…I need it so shout out to Jerry.” However, as he retired in September, Rose was unable to keep his word and flaunt these coolest trainers on the court. Despite the broken promise, the collaboration kept Rose in focus through its design and other areas.

His rookie deal with the brand paid him $1 million for four years. Following this, in 2012, he inked a 14-year deal worth $185 million with the brand. As said before, his first signature shoe, Adizero Rose 1 was introduced in 2010. Before his deal with Lorenzo, he had a deal with former Adidas collaborator, Kanye West for Yeezy Rose collection.

His collaboration with Lorenzo is already creating a buzz on social media. A look at the latest design tells a lot about the intricate details that represent the Chicago Bulls legend, which were incorporated into it. The design is very similar to Lorenzo’s first basketball shoe, the Adidas Fear of God Athletics 2 Basketball, with slight yet impactful changes. Lorenzo launched the brand in 2013 and has continued to push it to new heights, which now reportedly boasts nearly $200 million.
Speaking of the latest version, it has the same suede upper, but with different colors. The unreleased Derrick Rose x Adidas Fear of God Athletics 2 High Top Basketball version has the former Bulls player’s signature logo on the heels. The inside part of the shoe’s ankle strap is red. The fashion designer also detailed that the shoe has “ankle brace swag built in.” More changes will be seen when it is released.
