The time is up for ex-NBA legends vs modern-day stars as the comparison is now between the upcoming talent. The next generation of NBA stars is under development and giving it their all. But in the cutthroat competitive environment of sports, the question remains about who will outperform the other. Ex-LA Lakers star, Carlos Boozer, has weighed in on the talent difference between the sons of three popular NBA stars: LeBron James, Scottie Pippen, and Carmelo Anthony.

Appearing on an episode of ‘Fire We Feast’, Boozer was asked to rate Bronny James, Justin Pippen, and Kiyan Anthony from most to least talented. “Talent wise, I would say Pippen first… I think Bronny and then Kiyan,” he replied. It is worth mentioning that Boozer highlighting the words ‘talent wise’ in his answer can be a reflection on the fact that in terms of popularity and being a fan favorite, Bronny may surpass the other two. Notably, LeBron James’ eldest son ranks number one in NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) rankings, with $5.7 Million NIL.

However, Boozer backed his reason for placing Scottie Pippen’s youngest son above Bronny by mentioning the present-day scenario. “I think Bronnie has a ton of potential that’s unrealized. Yet I think Pippen is a little more advanced today. Yeah, I think Bronnie can be in the best out of all three of them. But today, I’m not eating a wing because his potential is later. Not today,” he stated.

It is worth mentioning that Bronny is playing at freshman level, while Justin is yet to debut in his college basketball career. So what is it that places Scottie Pippen’s youngest son above LeBron James’ oldest on Boozer’s list?

A closer look at Justin Pippen as a player!

One reason behind Carlos’ rankings could be Justin’s improvement in a year. The Sports Illustrated termed Justin Pippen as the epitome of a late bloomer. Notably, Justin was averaging 4.5 points per game as a junior. But as a high school senior, he has been averaging 16.5 points per game this season. According to 247Sports, Pippen is a four-star recruit and the No. 60 player in the country, the No. 9 combo guard, and the No. 8 player in the state of California.

Even LeBron James has himself expressed his appreciation for the 19-year-old. This came after Justin scored 24 points to lead Sierra Canyon to victory against Harvard-Westlake. The appreciation came in the form of King re-sharing a post by SportsCenter in his Instagram story. The post highlighted Scottie Pippen’s son’s performance against Harvard-Westlake.

As of now, Justin has an offer from Georgia Tech Basketball. He got the offer from Damon Stoudamire and his coaching staff in February this year. He shared the news through a post on his official account on X. However, his choices are not limited to Georgia as he also has offers from Stanford, Texas A&M, and Cal. So the college basketball front looks sorted in a way for the 19-year-old and he will soon be competing at the same stage as Bronny, though at different levels.
