It’s not uncommon to catch La La Anthony on the sidelines when her son is dominating on the court. But that appreciation for their respective works goes both ways. Kiyan Anthony doesn’t skip on his mom’s various projects. La La’s acting resume is something worth flexing and the 17-year-old has watched her career really grow exponentially. While he believes the best role she plays is being his mom, one fan-favorite character La La portrayed on camera wins it all for Kiyan.

Between his senior season and announcing his college decision, Kiyan was on League Ready, dishing on his parents. When asked which of La La’s on-camera roles is his favorite, he went for the obvious choice – Keisha from Power.

I feel like her biggest TV [role] was ‘Power.’ So watching her seven years going from one episode of a season to being one of the main people, obviously, ‘Power’ is one of the biggest shows. So super proud of her for going up like that,” said Kiyan. Think Like a Man is his favorite movie starring his mom but Power is significant for different reasons.

La La played LaKeisha “Keisha” Grant on the Starz hit from 2014 to 2020. As Kiyan said, Keisha very early established herself within the fandom as Tasha’s confidante. La La’s role got bigger in subsequent seasons. Which is why when Tasha put that bullet in Keisha’s head, we were devastated. Fans never got over how Keisha was abruptly killed off. Even the host of League Ready, Jason Jordan, said,Rest in peace Keisha,” during Kiyan’s answer.

Keisha is also a testimony of Lala making great strides in her TV career from her MTV days to mainstream roles. Kiyan is proud of her progress he’s watching in real-time. But the best role she plays is off camera.

Kiyan’s other favorite role played by La La Anthony

Extending from his response about La La’s favorite role, Kiyan revealed both his parents, exes Carmelo Anthony and La La, are present in different ways for him. “My dad plays a lot of the front row seats, being at every game, working with me off the court, on the court…” Kiyan said. “But my mom is really like just the emotional support.

Though separated, Melo and La La are often together courtside cheering on Kiyan and on his college visits too. While we see Melo and his son at the Olympics, the Knicks games, the EYBL, and more, La La goes on trips with Kiyan like their recent vacation to Japan.

La La also gets a special tattoo on the young guard’s arm with an additional message for her. She used to be against him getting a tattoo but he still told her about it because their relationship is one where he can talk to her about anything. “So I feel like that’s her role, just being you know that type of person to connect,” he says, which is evident.
