We famously know Isiah Thomas as the leader of his iconic “Bad BoysDetroit Pistons team. Under his leadership, the Detroit Pistons won two NBA championships against the mighty Lakers, the Celtics, and the Bulls. However, not many know that Isiah Thomas has always been a big-time advocate of human rights and a philanthropist within the ‘black community’.

In a recent interview, the Detroit Pistons legend spills the beans on his rumored relations in the NBA.

In a recent “X” post of “Forbes”, the host brings up the topic of Isiah Thomas being an owner of not one but two NBA teams currently.

Isiah Thomas replies, “It’s interesting the position I have. So, I sit on the board of ‘United Wholesale Mortgages’ and Matt Ishbia owns the Phoenix Suns. And I am an advisor/consultant to him.”.

The NBA Hall of Famer further explains, “I also sit on the board of Madison Square Garden. James Dolan, who owns the New York Knicks, ‘The Sphere’ in Vegas which all of you at some point have got to see!”. Isiah Thomas then states that he is probably the only person and former NBA player who sits on the board of two NBA teams. He laughs as he says, “Which is unique!

 

The NBA legend then says that he is only in this position because the stakeholders trust him. They trust him in his ability to keep everything ‘confidential’ in this whole scenario involving two NBA teams.

Isiah Thomas’s Uncertain Ties to $6.3 Billion NBA Team Owner

A few months ago, the owner of the Phoenix Suns and CEO of ‘United Wholesale Mortgage’, Matt Ishbia, publicly stated that Isiah Thomas had no role to play in the Phoenix Suns.

The two are long-time friends and Ishbia did mention that Isiah Thomas may be a part of something in the future. However, the CEO made sure to keep everything ‘under wraps’ until it was confirmed. After Isiah Thomas’s recent interview with Jabari Young from “Forbes”, it is safe to say that the information that Isiah Thomas is an owner of two NBA teams is not ‘under wraps’ anymore.

However, the most important question that is on everyone’s mind is: will Isiah Thomas be a better NBA owner than his arch-nemesis, Michael Jordan?
