‘The Last Dance’ averaged 5.648 million viewers across all 10 episodes when it premiered. ESPN also revealed that in total, the 10 episodes are averaging 12.876 million viewers through on-demand viewing. But before the success of the docuseries, Michael Jordan had already left a mark in the movie business. The cult classic ‘Space Jam’ featured other NBA stars, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson, Muggsy Bogues, and Shawn Bradley. And one of them tells the tale of the moment when MJ couldn’t control his laughter.

So I had a fade, everybody had a bald head, Mugs got a regular cut that easy to do and Pat, you know you gotta work a little bit. I had a blend in fade right, and they had an Italian barber.” Larry Johnson went to the Italian barber, but on the 10th day of the shoot of Space Jam, he realized it was bad. “And I’m like, I know I’m fucked up. He got me turned away from the mirror.”

With his new hairstyle, he went to his trailer, but Muggsy Bogues was already waiting there. “And he saw my head, he burst out laughing.” And to pile on Johnson’s misery, Bogues called everybody on the set, including Michael Jordan. “That thing came in. I ain’t never seen Michael Jordan like this before. He was on the floor.” The former Knicks star even imitated MJ’s laughter during the live show of All the Smoke podcast.

If you are wondering what the haircut was, “I turned around and had a bowl cut around. This was a bowl, bro,” Larry Johnson shared his story to the live crowd. Not just Michael Jordan, but everybody from the cast laughed at the expense of Johnson. But he wasn’t the only one MJ made fun of.

Michael Jordan would jibe at another Knicks legend

As mentioned before, the Space Jam movie had few other NBA talents. And for the shoot, the Warner Brothers had, at the time, created the ‘Jordan dome’. It was a special facility that took care of the Bulls’ legend fitness during the preseason. Yes, Michael Jordan came back from his baseball spell but the Bulls lost in the 1995 playoffs. He had a fixed training schedule and other stars would join in.

Michael is one of the biggest trash-talkers that you ever had the opportunity to meet or play against. He was always riding Charles [Barkley] and myself that we hadn’t won anything as yet.” Patrick Ewing spoke about his experience of MJ and his smack-talking on the Roommates show. “But it was a great experience. I enjoyed the opportunity to be around those guys and learning from those guys.

However, on the court, His Airness did not give his opponent an inch. Larry Johnson had revealed about his debut performance against Jordan, where he couldn’t perform. “(MJ) did some bullshit. The first time we met, he walked out on the court and walks straight up to me and goes ‘How’s Dorothy?’ That’s my mom… I couldn’t play the whole game. I think I scored 8 points. He got me.” That’s how Michael Jordan performed and that’s why, because of the strict schedule on the movie set, he once again went on to three-peat.

“Stay tuned for more such updates and join us for the exciting second episode of the “Dual Threat Show” as our host BG12 sits down with Georgia Bulldogs star and Mountain West All-Freshman Team Selection, Asia Avinger.”
