The 2x NBA champion shared a picture of him with famous Lions’ wider receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who secured 77 yards and a crucial touchdown. What happened the last time Detroit Lions made it to the championship game?

There are a lot of similarities between the 1991 run and the current season. The Lions had a 12-4 record as well, which set the franchise record three decades ago. They beat the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round, in a thrilling match-up to advance to the NFC South Championship game.

Nonetheless, they ended up losing to the Washington Redskins (now Commanders) by an embarrassing 31 points. The last time the Lions won the championship was before the AFL-NFL merger back in 1957. The Detroit unit is one win away from history and two wins away from a Super Bowl.

The early ’90s was a wonderful time in Detroit. Sports were flourishing. The Detroit Pistons won two championships, back-to-back in 1989 and 1990. The Lions made it to the championship game in 1991. Well, looks like the city’s NFL unit is back on track. We must wait a few more years for the NBA’s Pistons to get back.
