But the Heat lost out on the bidding war, and Lillard was sent to the Milwaukee Bucks instead. The Heat fell short to the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals. However, there was some solace.

As the disgruntled Damian Lillard finally asked for a trade, he revealed that his preferred landing spot was the Miami Heat. With the hopes of accommodating Lillard into the team, the Heat let go of Max Strus and Gabe Vincent, who were vital role players on the team.

After months of back and forth between Lillard and the Blazers, to everyone’s surprise, Lillard was sent to the Bucks. This changed the landscape of the NBA. Lillard teaming up with Giannis Antetokounmpo is a ‘lethal’ combination.

So not only did Jimmy and the Heat lose out on Lillard, he went to a rival in the Eastern Conference. So for the Heat, this was one of the worst-case scenarios.

Even the Boston Celtics added Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to their team. The Heat were the unluckiest team this offseason. Perhaps, as the interviewer suggested, this might have contributed to Jimmy Butler’s emo look. What do you think of the offseason moves?
