His daughter, Ryelle Rondo, is already carving her own path. And while she’s got that Rondo drive, she’s chosen a different route to make her mark, diving into a sport miles away from the basketball court.

Rajon Rondo couldn’t hold back his pride as he announced that his high school senior daughter has joined University of Alabama’s volleyball program for the 2025 season. Posting on Instagram, he celebrated Ryelle’s achievement, writing, “It’s Official. Congratulations @ryelle_rondo. Extremely proud of the young woman you’ve become. Hard work always pays off twin.”

Meanwhile, the Alabama Crimson Tide couldn’t be happier about Ryelle joining their ranks. UA head coach Rashinda Reed shared her excitement, saying, “I am excited to welcome Laney Hennessee, Maggie Kyriakides, and Ryelle Rondo to our Bama family.” When speaking specifically about Ryelle, Coach Reed was all praise: “Ryelle is an absolute firecracker on the court, a big spark who energizes everyone around her with her dynamic play and fearless enthusiasm.”

Reflecting on her decision, Ryelle couldn’t be more thrilled. She explained, “If I was going to be away from my family, I wanted to go to a place that felt like home, and Alabama just feels like home. From the students to the community and the coaches, everything felt like family from the moment I set foot in T-Town.” With her eye on the future, she added, “Plus, Alabama is where legends are made…so of course I belong here!” And this announcement was a long time coming.

Rajon Rondo’s daughter had committed to Bama in May

Back in May, Ryelle took to Instagram to announce her verbal commitment to the University of Alabama, writing, “I am BEYOND excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Alabama!!”

Not forgetting her roots, Ryelle gave a huge shout-out to her parents, coaches, and everyone who supported her. She added, “I want to thank my parents and my brother for always believing in me… Melissa, Jess, Richard and everyone at @kivavb, THANK YOOOOUUUUU!!! ROLL TIDE!! ❤”
