2017 NBA champion Matt Barnes seems to have finally encountered his most formidable opponent. Not one you might expect though. While one would assume the retired NBA player to enjoy his time off from work, the analyst was recently occupied with an intruder who invaded his house just as Barnes started his Instagram Live on March 25. The 44-year-old showed that a possum had entered into his kitchen. Confused and scared by the entire situation, he turned to his fans and social media followers to seek help

Throughout the hilarious video of about 10 minutes, the retired NBA player was seen desperately using every possible means to drive out the possum. By the time, he began his Instagram Live, the ex-Golden State Warriors player had already set up a battleground using empty cardboard boxes, creating a defensive barrier for himself and a clear escape route for the animal. While he kept panicking, the possum seemed far from moving out of the house. Seeking his followers’ help, Barnes can be seen asking, “Do Possums jump? Anybody know? Here is the clip for you to see.

“All you can do is peacefully run out, bro, so what are we going to do here?” Barnes could be heard asking the possum in the clip. After a few minutes of random monotonous babbling with the animal, he decided to take matters into his own hands and began to throw some apples at the possum.

Luckily, Matt Barnes was already in the process of moving out of his home to another place and had the cardboard boxes available to protect him. Though these animals don’t appear harmful to humans, possums carry a lot of diseases so it’s very important to be cautious while dealing with one. Since possums don’t like confrontation much, the apple didn’t help. So he had to find more innovative means of sending the uninvited guest home.

Instead of a basketball, the 14-season veteran pulled out his golf club to fend off the tough guest. That too remained in vain. As the last resort, Matt Barnes started to splash water on the animal. Well, that didn’t help either, however, soon after that, the possum went out through the back door. What do you think of this amusing encounter?
