Music and basketball belong together. It’s common practice for artists to reference sports and athletes in their songs and even name-drop them. Whether it’s the artists getting inspired by the athletes or the athletes sinking themselves into music while training or during games, they are always interlinked with each other.
Carmelo Anthony retired in 2023 after playing in the league for 19 years. Following retirement, Melo has laid low. But his name has resurfaced as this rap legend’s son compares the career of Melo and people’s perspective of him to his dad.

During a recent interview with DJ Superstar Jay, Jadakiss’s son Jaewon shared who he and his dad’s parallels are in the basketball world. Jaewon said that he sees himself as Kiyan Anthony. He then expanded by saying, “I feel like it’s other people’s kids who’s like the Bronnys and all of that“.

He then continued by saying that “I feel like my pops is the Melo of the industry. Like he don’t really get his just due. Like he probably won’t get it till it’s all over”. It’s true that Carmelo Anthony is underrated as a player. Following his unsuccessful last few years in the league, people are quick to forget the dominance he had in the NBA for a decade before that.
