Dwight Howard has stepped in to share his advice. The 2024 NBA All-Star Game faced heavy criticism from fans. There were flaws that were too significant to overlook. Fans didn’t hesitate to point out these issues to NBA authorities. While it’s true that there hasn’t been any solid strategy announced, the NBA Commissioner has pledged to implement significant changes. Howard’s advice aims to support this effort.

The former Lakers star took to X to suggest that creative one-on-one matchups between top stars could entice fans. He proposed a matchup between Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid, two top MVP contenders from the 2023-24 season, which would undoubtedly generate major hype.

Howard also suggested a showdown between Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama. Considering the excitement generated by their first two matchups as Rookie of the Year contenders and rising stars, this is an exciting selection. “Let’s do 1’s challenge & have actual stars do the dunk contest imagine AE & Ja in the dunk contest and then doing 1’s Jokic vs Embid, Wemby vs Chet, Dame vs Steph,” the post read.

Another intriguing pairing proposed in his X post was Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry, a duel that fans would eagerly anticipate. We can only hope Commissioner Silver sees these ideas, as he’s currently making significant efforts to implement changes. He has even sought the help of Warriors star Curry.

Adam Silver turns to Stephen Curry for insights on NBA changes

Sportscaster Rachel Nichols tweeted, “Adam Silver says the NBA is actively looking at “other formats” for this year’s All-Star Game, saying the NBA has already formed a committee to try something new. “We want to do something that will excite the fans and excite the players.”

As promised to Nichols, the NBA is seriously looking to change the format for the 2025 All-Star Game, which will be held in San Francisco. The 2023-24 season revealed a serious issue with defense in the game, mostly due to players wanting to avoid unnecessary injuries.

In a game against Indianapolis, five players scored 30 points or more. The Eastern Conference beat the Western Conference 211-186, becoming the first time a team scored more than 200 points in a matchup in the history of the event, which has been taking place for 73 years.

In an effort to avoid such issues and bring a refreshing take to the game, the league has sought the help of Warriors star Stephen Curry. “It’s a home game for him…I know he’s very prideful and wants to make sure the players put their best foot forward,” Silver said about working with Curry.

The 4x NBA champion shared that the players are well aware of the lower intensity of the game and are also looking forward to making it more engaging. Till official updates come along, we will have to wait to see how the 2025 All-Star Game turns out.
