Dwight Howard Breaks Silence Hours After Commitment to Philippines’ “Strong Group” Surfaces

Dwight Howard‘s NBA comeback has been put on hold. After months of searching to find a suitable home in the NBA, fans were surprised when news broke that the Orlando Magic legend was signing with Strong Group, a Philippines-based basketball team. Although Howard himself had not talked about this, we have finally received confirmation from the NBA veteran.

As the team is set to take part in the two-week mini tournament in Dubai, Howard recently revealed his plans to show his gratitude to his fans from the Philippines. In his recent post on social media, he expressed how he is looking forward to playing for StrongHold.

Wow ! After all the love I received on my last post It was hard making the decision of where to start the C’mon World Smile Tour😃 But it looks like the people of the Philippines really wanted me to come on down and put on a show🕺🏾 I can’t wait to play for StrongHold and represent for all my Pinoy people and Just like I promised ! I already booked my flight and cant wait to meet you guys at the airport on January 6th… ” said the 8x All-Star.

As the Dubai International Basketball Championship will not commence until January 19th, Howard has the time to take a trip to the Philippines to enjoy some quality time with his fans.

Although Dwight Howard is happy to be stepping back on the basketball court, should he have waited a bit longer to see if he would receive an offer from an NBA team, or was signing with StrongHold the right move?

Howard has not been in the league since the 2021–22 NBA season. But by no means does this mean that he does not have the skills to play in the NBA. Howard is 38 years old and well past his prime, but he still has the basketball know-how and experience to play for a team in the NBA.

It was even reported that the Golden State Warriors had done a workout with Howard but did not end up signing him a few months ago. But this mini tournament might just be the right opportunity for Howard to show the world that he still has what it takes.
