Injury woes struck again as Anthony Davis suffered a left adductor strain. Luckily, the injury wasn’t bad. However, much to the disappointment, the player will have to sit out until after the NBA All-Star. With a gap to fill, the debate heated up, with voices from all corners throwing names. As when a former NBA player’s pick actually came to fruition, he doubled down on it with an approval.

It’s Kyrie Irving! It has been announced that the Dallas Mavericks player will replace Davis on Team Shaq after Davis’ injury update. And several including Howard are satisfied with the replacement. “Rightfully so,” Howard wrote on X.  He has made the suggestion previously on X. “Put Kyrie as injury replacement for the all star game !” he wrote.

This will be Kyrie’s ninth career All-Star appearance. After Davis was traded to the Mavericks to acquire Luka Dončić, fans hoped to see LeBron James reunite with AD in the All-Star Game, so the disappointment is understandable. Many fell upset over the notable snub of Devin Booker.

However, there is also plenty of excitement surrounding Irving. Fans will get to witness another thrilling reunion of former teammates James and Irving playing together again. While with Cleveland in 2016, they led the team to an NBA championship. Irving has averaged 24.1 points across 42 games.

Before Irving, another replacement was made for Giannis Antetokounmpo in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta Hawks’ player Trae Young joined the roster. This was the 10th time Davis was named an All-Star. And he was playing at a dominant level before it all went south with his injury.

Injuries began to concern Anthony Davis

Playing in his debut game for the Mavericks against the Houston Rockets, he scored 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. However, in the third quarter, while moving toward the basket to guard Rockets center Alperen Şengün, Davis got injured.

He was sidelined for the rest of the game due to a “lower-body injury.” As per ESPN’s Sham Charania, the player will be out for multiple weeks, possibly up to a month. Davis’ injury has clearly made the situation tense.

While the former Laker is a great addition to the team, he needs to stay healthy. Davis’ history with injuries is well known, and fans are understandably concerned. Former NBA coach Mark Jackson highlighted the same in a previous interview. As of now, it is unknown when he will return to the court.
