Think twice before messing with Dwyane Wade. That’s what former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas learned when he tried to trash-talk the Flash. The 3x champion has always let his game do the talking, showcasing skills that spoke for themselves. He made sure to clap back with his powerful performances to anyone throwing shade his way. And in this one incident, Arenas learned a big lesson as he revealed, “That was the last time I said anything about a player.”

During the conversation with Shannon Sharpe on the Nightcap podcast, Arenas shared what the common consensus around the league regarding Wade was after the USA’s 2004 Olympics disappointment. “Like nobody care about no Miami and no DWade. We just gonna put a zone in they can’t shoot anyway.” But he didn’t know what was coming for him when Dwyane came into town for a matchup.

Agent Zero claimed that he even called the Heat star to apologize for all the noise ahead of their game. “I called this man in his hotel room. Hey Man you know these reporters got everything misconstrued. Yeah that wasn’t me.” However, Wade wasn’t someone to take this lightly. Arenas continued, He was on demon time. That was the last time I said anything about a player. That man Molly whopped me my whole career after that. I think I was 3-13 against Dwyane Wade.”

Clearly, Wade had taken Arenas’ disrespect quite seriously and wasn’t going to accept his apology. Agent Zero had also realized his mistake and stepped back.

Gilbert Arenas’ candid confession on Dwyane Wade’s game

Back in 2004, the Wizards, led by Arenas, were thwarted by Wade’s Miami Heat. For three consecutive years, the Heat convincingly outperformed the Wizards, clinching the Southeast division title.

Arenas once also mentioned how he couldn’t beat Wade. “No, we had Miami. I’m pretty sure Miami was in our division. Yeah, I couldn’t beat (Dwyane) Wade for s**t,” said Arenas in an interview. While they only faced each other once in the Playoffs, they met quite often in the regular season with Wade having a stunning 18-3 record against Arenas.

Wade also statistically outperformed Arenas in every major category as per Land of Basketball. These stats prove that Wade did indeed take it seriously.
