Getting called the GOAT by Dwyane Wade is a big compliment!

And only Derrick Rose received such consistent praise from the Heat legend. DWade once called Rose “phenomenal.” Dwyane, who also grew up on the south side of Chicago like Rose, has nothing but immense praise and respect for him. Even to this day, the 3x NBA champ remembers Rose’s electrifying style of play. He seemed enthusiastic about sharing his experience when given the opportunity.

A post by the official Instagram page of the Chicago Bulls urged its followers to share their favorite moments of their former player Rose. Wade quickly hopped into the comments section and reminded everyone of the time when both he and LeBron James were up against Rose. ‘The Flash’ recounted being impressed by Rose’s reverse layup and immediately called him Chicago’s GOAT.

“When he went 1 on 2 vs Bron and I in transition and hit that reserve on us. I was like oh this dude is different. Chicagos 🐐is D 🌹!!!” he wrote. Well, Dwyane Wade wasn’t wrong.

These conversations take one back to 2010 when both James and Wade had almost joined the Chicago Bulls to team up with Rose. The team was climbing the ranks in the Eastern Conference, and the prospect of joining Rose was especially intriguing for the duo.

However, since only the Miami Heat could afford three star players, that deal never happened. Nonetheless, the respect has remained unchanged among the legends. “Chicago was on the top of both of our lists. They had to offer two max contracts and they had a young D Rose. When it came down to it, Miami was the only team that enough money to get all three of us. Every other team could have did two,” Dwyane Wade shared.

As the basketball player retired, he showed his love for his fans and Chicago.

The former Chicago Bulls player had a pleasant surprise for the fans. He opened a pop-up flower shop in Downtown Chicago. However, it was only for one day and for four hours. “Stop and smell the roses,” was the slogan used by Rose. He had announced it on his IG page as well.

The pop-up shop drew a huge crowd who lined up just to get a glimpse of the basketball legend and receive a free rose from him. These fans overcame the cold temperature and stood in line from 5 a.m. to greet him.

Following his retirement last year, the Chicago Bulls have announced that they will honor his legacy at the United Center during the team’s game against the New York Knicks. The 3x NBA All-Star is also about to release his first documentary, “Becoming a Rose” which also has a lot to do with Chicago.

This gesture of the flower pop-up shop and the long lines of people show how much the basketball legend means to the city.
