Dwyane Wade is always ready to swoop in and hype his lady, proving he serves leading man energy when it matters most. When Gabrielle Union was recognized for her entrepreneurial skills at a high-profile Hollywood event—an award sponsored by $269.4 billion worth Wells Fargo—you knew her original ride or die was not going to miss the big moment. He made sure to put his own stamp on the celebration.

After Variety announced that Gabrielle Union would receive the ‘Variety Entrepreneur Impact Award’, Wade was definitely following the event and his wife’s success. It’s not clear if he took time out from promoting his new perfume, Intuition, to be there in person, but the message he sent was loud and clear. He re-shared the post on his stories with a little extra something-something, writing the seven words everyone was waiting for: “Giving Leading Lady Energy!” followed by the rest of the three: “you go girl.”
The event took place on Thursday with stars like John Stamos, Quinta Brunson, and more at the London West Hollywood. Union, for her part, re-shared her husband’s little show of support along with a word of thanks to Variety for the honor. “Honored and grateful to receive the Variety Entrepreneur Impact Award at the Variety Entertainment & Technology Summit. Thank you @variety for recognizing the work, the vision, and the heart behind it,” she wrote.

Before this award, she was celebrating the 25th anniversary of the cult-favorite franchise originator, Bring It On. The cast, including Union, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Bradford, and Eliza Sloane, reunited at a Hollywood venue with fans for a Q&A.

She was also supporting her leading man at another Intuition event. And while this award is hers, she ‘proudly’ shares her business empire with Dwyane Wade.

Dwyane Wade is part of Gabrielle Union’s award
Gabrielle Union has done a lot more than a few films and TV shows. She has her own production company, ‘I’ll Have Another,’ after she and other black talent were overlooked by Hollywood. This company was also lauded at the Variety summit. She authored a few books and built a few businesses while advocating for diversity on the big screen.

Union and Wade, who celebrated 11 years of marriage recently, have their own separate entrepreneurial interests for the most part. But it was inevitable they’d built something together too. They founded ‘Proudly,’ a baby-care brand inspired by their youngest child, Kaavia, for babies of color. They also founded ‘Bitsy’s’, a healthy snack for kids. Kaavia’s also the inspiration behind her parents’ ‘Shady Baby’ empire, which includes an illustrated children’s book.

Separately, Union has pioneered Flawless, a haircare brand for women of color that is carried by JCPenney. And though it’s Gab’s brand, Wade has been very involved in it. The mission behind Flawless – and all of Union’s brands, really, is “meeting the needs of the most vulnerable.”
Let’s not forget how this couple has been looking like a million bucks in Tiffany & Co.’s creations at all their events. Everyone knows they’re more powerful together. And there will be more awards to come recognizing that.
