It has been a six-year-long process for her and her team to create the adaptation of the book “The Idea of You.” As it is finally realized, Union’s excitement knows no bounds. Sharing a picture from the advanced screening of the film held on April 28, the Being Mary Jane actress shared her excitement with her 21.6 million Instagram followers.

Both Union and the lead actress of the movie Anne Hathaway can be seen posing at the camera. The photo was captioned, “When your favorite book by your favorite author comes to life Stream #TheIdeaOfYou on @primevideo May 2nd, you won’t regret it 🤍” While Hathaway mesmerized her fans in a red gown, Union dazzled in a black gown.

Written by Robinne Lee, this novel published in 2017 follows the story of a divorced mom’s romance with a pop star who is younger than her. Familiar with the story? The mother of four must have felt the same connection when she first read the story. In a discussion with ET, Union revealed that she had the opportunity to read an early manuscript and was thrilled about the idea of having it adapted into a movie.

As a producer, the actress is highly discerning when it comes to her work. However, one aspect of the movie that enticed her was the story. Union shared that she found the story resonating with her own experience of marrying a younger man, Dwyane Wade, who is nine years her junior. The Miami Heat champion and Union tied the knot in 2014, and they now share a daughter named Kaavia.

“Being inspired by Robinne’s book and knowing that [main character] Solene’s story was a very specific story. I was like ‘I want in.’ I live this! I’ve got a younger man with a big life,” Union said in People Magazine
