Gabrielle Union accepted her reality

At the age of 38, Union started feeling changes in her body. This led to her getting some blood work done to know what was really going on. It was later revealed that she was undergoing perimenopause, which was an early stage of menopause.

It was in her mid-40s when the symptoms really started showing. As Union is an actress and a celebrity, she is constantly in the public eye. So for her, the most severe symptom that she struggled to overcome was hair loss.

According to People, Union said, “All of it can feel very isolating, and you can feel like less of a woman, especially as a black woman where our hair is our crown. There’s literally the crown act, and I’m like, uh, my crown looks more like a barrette at this moment.

She struggled a lot in the early stages. But once she accepted the reality of it and talked about it with others, she started feeling more free and could cope better.

Union also knows that there are various stigmas surrounding menopause and how people view it. She wants to empower women and support people who are struggling with this transition. For this, Union is now working with Clearblue to share its product, which is a menopause stage indicator.
