There is a long list of things that Charles Barkley dislikes. From the Golden State Warriors to Kevin Durant, the Chuckster often ruthlessly criticizes the things he hates. However, he is seemingly not good at being on the receiving end of the same things. Famed comedian and actor, Tommy Chong, recently claimed to have hilariously poked the Philadelphia 76ers legend and interestingly got away with it too.

Recalling one of his visits to a Los Angeles Clippers game decades ago, Chong revealed how he cleverly taunted Barkley by loudly predicting his tendency to pass the ball with the shot clock expiring from his courtside seat. However, he said that there was a trick to it. “I saw that Barkley could get affected if you heckle him. But you gotta heckle him properly,” Chong said.

He wouldn’t voice it directly to Sir Charles. Instead, he would look the other way and declare his taunt in a voice loud enough for Chuck to hear. Confused and annoyed, Barkley used to then charge at a different person sitting courtside.

“I’m sitting there, I say, ‘Watch Barkley, watch him. He’s a ball hog, he won’t pass the ball until it’s too late. And then next thing you know, he passed the ball and it’s too late and then Barkley got so pissed and I’d do it in such a way that I wouldn’t be looking at him. I’d be just talking, looking somewhere else and so Barkley didn’t know where it was coming from and he came over to the guy next to me, ‘I’ll f**k your mama up,’” Chong shared during his recent appearance on the All The Smoke Podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

Known as the iconic Cheech & Chong duo, Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin are also avid Lakers fans and have more than a few interesting courtside stories to share with their fans and listeners. This was one of those where Chuck wasn’t efficient at dealing with criticism. And that is not surprising seeing the things Barkley has gone through over the years.

Charles Barkley is not good at handling the heat

The Philadelphia 76ers legend has never been hesitant with his words. Even if it means breaking his years-long friendship with Michael Jordan, Barkley feels it his duty to speak the truth, a quality fans admire. However, at times, many believe he crosses the line with his words. And sometimes, if not often, Barkley faces the same criticism he candidly dishes out to others.

Just like the time Turner Sports warned him to stop his jokes on San Antonio women. Next, the Philadelphia 76ers legend went off on a rant and said, “You can’t even have fun nowadays without these characters trying to get you canceled and things like that.”  He was criticized by the fans too.

Most people are aware of Barkley’s heated feud with the Undisputed host Skip Bayless. The two never leave an opportunity to criticize each other. So when Bayless’ co-host Shannon Sharpe left the show, Barkley took a shot at Bayless once again. In response to the Phoenix Suns legend calling him an “idiot,” Bayless offered him to join his show so he could engage in regular debates.

He said, “I wouldn’t even have to try so please, please, please Charles, come be this d**n idiot’s debate partner. Please let me annihilate you on a daily basis. Ten times per show.” It has been a year since he made the offer. And we are not likely to see Charles Barkley take on the challenge.
